Message from the Leadership Team

Dear Noadswood families,

We wrote last week about all the opportunities on offer for Year 10; we’ve loved keeping you all up to date via our social platforms about the Iceland Trip. We will write more about this in our half termly newsletter, but we’re so pleased to be able to offer this brilliant enrichment trip. We’d like to say a huge thanks to Miss Skinner, Mr Wilkinson, Mrs Way, Mr Cox and Mrs White who have led and supported on this trip so brilliantly.

As we transition into the spring term, we want to take a moment to express our immense pride in our Year 11 students for their exemplary conduct during the recent March mock examinations. We recognise that this is a significant time for our students, and we are here to support them every step of the way. We encourage all families to maintain open lines of communication with their child’s teachers or year team. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress or well-being, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are committed to providing the best possible support and guidance to our students, and we value your partnership in this journey. Your involvement plays a crucial role in fostering this supportive atmosphere.

Rwanda evening of Entertainment and Food

Our 13 students are practicing hard to learn their dance routine to show you on Thursday 27th March from 6-8pm all in aid to raise funds so that they can purchase sporting equipment for our link school along with basic English reading and writing resources. The choir are sounding incredible with a song from Rwanda. Come along to listen and watch the hard work the students are doing and then join us for a game of bingo with a twist.

Tickets to purchase food must be made by 4pm on Monday 17th March whereas tickets for entry only can be bought right up until the day itself.

Tickets will be available from the Finance office W/C Monday 24th March.

If you are ordering a ticket with food. Tickets must be ordered by Monday 17th March

Awesome Alumni

Lauren Gittings attended Noadswood from 2003-2008

After completing my PhD in Neurodegenerative Diseases, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, USA to pursue a career in scientific research. I am now an Assistant Professor, and my research focuses on the cellular & molecular causes of dementia and other related neurodegenerative diseases. I first fell in love with science at Noadswood and know that the education I received at Noadswood was invaluable to where I am today.

Pi Day 2025

Happy Pi Day!

March has arrived and that can only mean one thing in the maths department – Pi Day!

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. This remarkable number has an infinite number of decimals with no repeating pattern, which is hard to get your head around. In fact, Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point.

Help celebrate by baking a cake or pie and bring it in to school on Monday 17th March.

Create a cake or pie within the following boundaries:

● It must be hand made by you, not shop bought and then iced. (You may buy icing)

● It must include either the symbol for pi (π) or at the least the first 3 digits of pi (3.14)

● It must be in a labelled tin or box (with lid) containing the label that your maths teacher has with the reverse fully completed.

Cakes will be judged based on appearance, mathematical content and taste.

Search for ideas by looking for “pi day cakes”.

Get planning and preparing!
