35th Reunion

I appreciated having a small class size; the teachers were very encouraging and met me where I was academically. They were always willing to meet with me before and after class to help me.

Clockwise, from top left: Mrs. Jaffe, Mrs. Graff, Ms. Wagner & Mr. Baris

Mrs. Jaffe was amazing; Mrs. Graff made me love math; all of the language teachers, Mr. Baris, and Mrs. Wagner had a big impact on my academic life. These were things that happened at Shipley that made me feel confident. It didn't seem to matter so much what the subject was, the teachers created an environment where I was able to learn whatever they were teaching.

I've been back to Shipley a lot because my kids, Garett and Malenne graduated from Shipley and my son, Chris, is there now. I really appreciate how some of the traditions that I participated in when I was a student are still happening at Shipley. What is neat for me is seeing how the campus has changed. The LARC, which used to be our dining hall, is an amazing space. The Commons and the Arts area are beautiful - I could hang out there all afternoon.

My closest friends are still my friends from Shipley. They are always the ones I go back to. There is a reason that all our kids were fast friends when they met. Shipley taught us all the same values and we taught them to our children.

Members of the Class of 1990

Shipley taught me courage to experience as much as I can. The experiences at Shipley opened me up to the world, the Italy trip with Ms. Wagner, Sprouts, my French club trip to Montreal where we lived with a family for a weekend. The fact that Shipley provides so many experiences outside the classroom really opens the students up to the world around us.
