The rainbow challenges were really successful this week. We are trying to encourage the class to work in small groups with adults as well as independently. The idea behind the rainbow challenge is that the children access different areas, complete a challenge and then their sticker moves across the rainbow. Each week there will be different challenges with a different focus. This week we have encouraged the class to write their names, as well as reinforce their number recognition and subitising.
We have enjoyed the sunshine this week. The new balance bikes were a huge hit, it was great to see so many using their muscles to power and balance. It takes great skill and control to use them with ease. Lots of singing and rhyming games with the parachute, again all of these activities help develop confidence, independence as well as gross motor skills that then support the children’s fine motor skills to help them write and draw.
We are also encouraging writing in different areas of the classroom, number formation and recognition. It has been wonderful to share their learning and understanding and following their lead in play.
