Member Spotlight

• Gio •

My name is Giovanna, a Beurling Academy student from Brazil. I decided to join the robotics club after a friend introduced me to it. I’ve always wanted to work on something hands-on, and the 3D printing projects gave me that opportunity. I made hallpasses and put together an air filter. Through the club, I learned how to 3D print from scratch and push myself outside of my comfort zone. What motivates me is creating things that will actually be used in my school, as well as trying to do all projects I’m assigned the best way I can.

Upcoming Events & Dates

  • Spring FLL Competition Date: completed
  • Spring eSports Tournament: Spring 2025
  • Drone certification exams with Transport Canada: Spring 2025

Mentor's Reflections

• Mr. Mann•

As a mentor, I have witnessed how our program transforms high school education by integrating eSports, robotics, 3D printing, and drones. These interdisciplinary initiatives not only enhance technical skills but also foster critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity among students.

eSports has been a particularly impactful platform, channeling students' gaming passion into opportunities to explore strategy, teamwork, and digital citizenship. Robotics inspires students to solve real-world problems through design and programming, encouraging persistence and innovation. With 3D printing, learners bring their ideas to life, making innovation accessible to everyone, regardless of background. The drone program further expands horizons by offering hands-on applications that connect classroom learning to real-life contexts.

Through a steadfast focus on equity and inclusion, this program ensures that every student, regardless of their starting point, has access to transformative educational experiences that prepare them for the future. It is a privilege to guide students as they grow into critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and engaged team members.

Alumnus Corner

Dr. Nicholas Nadeau, a proud Beurling Academy alumnus, has built his career at the crossroads of people and technology—working on everything from surgical robots to AI tools. He now co-leads Onix, a company focused on digital self-awareness. We're grateful for his support of our robotics program—his insight and encouragement make a real impact on our students.
