Further information is available in the letter sent to all families on 20 March. Attendance As we head into the end of Term 1, it remains important that your child attends school every single day. School is the best place for students to learn as well as to build social connections and life-long skills. We understand that families are eager to see and reconnect with loved ones and take a well-deserved break, or simply avoid travelling during peak times, but please remember that planned travel should only be taken during scheduled school holidays. Students should be at school every day during the school terms, until the end of term, unless they are sick or are absent for a justified reason. Consistently going to school has countless benefits – from learning, to creating social connections and improving wellbeing through access to support and quality education. Our staff are here to support you and your child to come to school every day. If you have any concerns or questions please talk to me, your class teacher, or Year Adviser. Thank you for working with us to support regular attendance. We look forward to a successful and enjoyable end of term. GENERAL NEWS
SECONDARY SCHOOLS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Parliament of NSW Secondary Schools Leadership Program Kingscliff High School Captains, Archie and Mieka, alongside eight other student leaders from the Tweed area, attended the Parliament of NSW Secondary Schools Leadership Program in Sydney on 25 March. The group visited Parliament House on Macquarie Street, Australia’s first Parliament, where they met with Members of Parliament (including local members Geoff Provost and Janelle Saffin) and had the opportunity to sit in on a very animated session of the Legislative Council. They also toured Government House, overlooking Sydney Harbour, and met with the Governor of New South Wales, the Honourable Margaret Beazley. With perfect weather throughout the day, the students represented both their individual schools and the wider Tweed region with pride and professionalism. It was a long but rewarding day, involving flights, train travel, and plenty of walking, providing a valuable and memorable leadership experience.
CLOSING THE GAP
Southern Cross University Indigenous Unit Info Session – Closing the Gap Students attended an information session delivered by the Southern Cross University Indigenous Unit. The session highlighted the flexible study options available at Southern Cross University, including on-campus, online, mixed-mode, part-time, and full-time study. Students learned about the support services provided through Indigenous Australian Student Services (IASS), which assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in areas such as social and emotional wellbeing, academic support, and financial guidance. The session also addressed common myths about attending university and provided information on scholarships, entry pathways, and application processes, including both ATAR and non-ATAR options, as well as Indigenous-specific testing and assessment pathways. At the conclusion of the session, students had the opportunity to ask questions about courses they were interested in and gain guidance on how to apply.
THE TEMPEST PRODUCTION
On Friday the 20th of March, 46 Drama and Year 12 Advanced English students had the wonderful opportunity to attend a live production of The Tempest, performed by the Murwillumbah Theatre Company at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre. Our students demonstrated exemplary behaviour and were a credit to the school throughout the excursion. We sincerely thank the parents for supporting their children’s participation in this enriching experience. We hope the students gained valuable insights into the world of Shakespeare and found inspiration for their studies.

MURWILLUMBAH YOUTH FESTIVAL
JUNIOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED
Junior Tweed River Agricultural Society Committee The Tweed River Agricultural Society is establishing a Junior Committee to support local agriculture, the society and the Murwillumbah Show. The Show Society is a whole of shire society, and they sincerely want to increase involvement from schools and youth in the Agricultural Society. The Murwillumbah Show has been running since 1898. It is one of the longest running country shows in Australia, having only been halted 10 times for wars, flood and pandemics. It celebrates an important part of the heritage of the shire, and that is of the timber cutters and farmers who first came to the lands of the Bundjalung Nation and began creating the towns and industries that we see today as the Tweed Shire. This year the show is on Friday 30 October 2026 and Saturday 31 October 2026.For more information, interested students are encouraged to contact the Show Secretary (secretary@murwillumbahshow.com) or see Mr Haines / Mrs O'Keeffe

When someone at your school is struggling, and nobody says anything, there can be consequences for everyone. And when someone does say something? Everyone benefits from that, too. Your well-being and the person sitting next to you in class? They're connected. What happens to them needs to matter to you, because what you do matters to them. That's why having the courage to say something is important for everyone. #saysomething #schoolculture #wereallconnected Stymie Focus

OPEN BOYS SOCCER
The Kingscliff High School Opens Boys Soccer Team delivered an outstanding display this week at the Far North Coast Gala Day. We secured dominant victories against both Ballina High School and Tweed River High School. With convincing scores of 9–1 in both matches, the Opens team showcased their skill, teamwork, and determination. From the opening whistle, the Kingscliff Opens controlled possession, dictating the pace and keeping the ball in their favour for most of the games. Their slick passing and strong communication made it difficult for their opponents to break through. One of the highlights of the day was the spread of goal scorers, with several players contributing to the tally across both matches. The team’s versatility and ability to create opportunities ensured that everyone played a part in the victories. We also managed to get 6 students selected in the Far North Coast Open Soccer team, with another student selected as shadow. Congratulations to Josha. B, Kurt. O, Byron. D, Dylan. L, Harper. H and Alex T on getting representative selection. Also congratulations to Maicah. K on getting selected as shadow. We will go on to play Byron High School to progress further in the knockout competition.
OPEN GIRLS SOCCER
Congratulations to the Open's Girls Soccer team who represented Kingscliff High School at the CHS North Coast Football Gala day in Byron Bay on Monday 16 March 2026. In hot and humid conditions, the team started the day strong with a 8-3 win against Murwillumbah High School with goals scored by Sophia J(5), Livia B (2) and Emily H(1). In the second game, we faced a fresh Ballina Coast High School who proved too strong, taking the win 4-0. Congratulations to all of the students involved, for competing with great enthusiasm, fairness and respect across the day. Livia B was successful in being chosen for the FNC Girls Football team which is a wonderful achievement. We would further like to extend a special thanks to our competing Year 12 students Emily H, Claire W and Charlotte L who represented KHS for the final time in Opens Soccer.
