Level ones are focusing on learning how to take vital signs. This includes height & weight, blood pressure, heart rate & pulse.

Level twos are working on conditions of the knee. Learning the anatomy of the knee and then moving onto the conditions of the knee and how to treat those conditions.

Construction

Construction is making Pumpkins for Halloween this October. The students can make one and take it home. They we are making a couple for Entrepreneurship to sell. In total they made 250 pumpkins with a total of 2250 pieces and 4500 holes drilled and 4500 screws driven.

Entrepreneurship

For October the following is happening in our CTE Entrepreneurship / Business Class:

Year 1 Classes

They are working on their Beach proposals which is a 4 phase semester long assignment where they have to use their creativity, imagination, out of the box thinking and business savvy to transform & develop a new uninhabited beach into a thriving commercial landmark. They have to design it, create proposals for city counsel to pitch their idea, market it and finally expand and grow their business venture. They continue to be challenged by weekly logic, critical and analytical thinking puzzles. We will be moving into our business department overview phase soon.

Year 2 Classes:

They continue to manage their stock portfolios which they will monitor for the whole school year. They have prepared some advertising materials for the wood pumpkins Mr Scott construction class has made. They have just finished their review of business calculations. They will be starting their button project soon where they have to develop, design, and create real buttons. Then they will hypothetically sell them based on a sales scenario provided where they will create all marketing and financial reporting to go with the button sales business.

For both year one & year two Classes:

As competition is a main driver in business, innovation and required for success, we have started a cross class period business game competition amongst all classes. On a given day they will partake in one of our business games. Winners advance to the next round where they play to represent their class period against all other CTE Entrepreneurship / Business classes. The top 2 overall winners receive a Starbucks gift card. We also track all high scores for the year on an ongoing basis to keep students motivated, competing and striving for more!

CTE Assistant

One of our CTE Assistants, Angel Higuera, taught the CTE Entrepreneurship students how to install a mold, the basic parts, designing a button, printing and cutting, and so much more.

Digital Media

One of our CTSO officers will be reporting the updates for this month!

This is Viviana Youssef reporting October monthly news. CTSO officers went on a field trip to Downey for the SkillsUSA fall leadership conference. They engaged in interactive sessions with students and staff. The CTSO officers also participated in student activity to empower organization and time management.

A CTSO officer went to a CTSO leadership summit at the Hemet unified school district. The officers were able to go and learn what and how to program the CTSO with other leaders from across the Hemet Unified School District. They also learned how to communicate and collaborate with other schools. They learned how other CTSO programs are processed and worked.

The CTSO officers have been planning to compete in many competitions coming up in November. They think this is the best opportunity to learn from each other and to gain the experience to get some work skills.

UCR Arts Field Trip

The Digital Media Academy went on a field trip to UCR Arts. They learned about photo stories and they examined the work of Jon Henry. They went through a guided tour and then went through a photography workshop on storytelling.

Digital Media I students continued to explore how aperture impacts their depth of field. They demonstrated their knowledge by capturing images around campus. Digital Media II students have been busy creating short films and documentaries for the 1st Annual Hemet Film Festival. Our Digital Media Academy students were able to attend University of Riverside Arts workshop where they examined the works of Jon Henry’s Stranger Fruits. You can view the images from this field trip by CLICKING HERE.

Our Digital Media Students have also begun a partnership with The Hemet Valley Art Association. This partnership will allow our students to engage with artists, have their work examined, and grow as a professional. It will also give our students an opportunity to have their work displayed for the public. Our first featured photographer is Johnny Becerra, whose work is currently on display. You can visit the gallery located at 144 N Harvard St, Hemet, CA 92543.

Recognizing Students

Chris Gardea

Chris has taken leadership and is very proactive in helping others throughout the class period. He is very responsive to the content and always comes in with a willingness to learn.

Kyra Perez

For this month Mr. Wells would like to nominate Kyra Perez from his period 1 & 6 class. Kyra is a senior and is taking both Year 1 & Year 2 classes concurrently to be a completor by graduation. Kyra always has a friendly outgoing demeanor and attitude which will go far in her business and entrepreneurial pursuits. She is always willing to participate in class and never afraid to speak up and offer her input. Coming from an Entrepreneurial family, this class is a perfect fit for her and her insight is spot on. As part of this nomination he'd like to include her fish "ACE" that accompanies her to class on a daily basis. ACE doesn't say much, but he's a fun addition to the class!

Dazy Delong

Dazy Delong is a member of our Digital Media Academy and has worked incredibly hard to hone their photography skills. Dazy has quickly grasped new techniques and displayed an impressive level of understanding; not only to improve their own works, but also to help her peers. Myself and the rest of our Academy team are incredibly proud of Dazy’s growth in all of her coursework.

Angel

Angel Cazares Martinez is a construction 2 student who is also in ASB. You can find Angel working the volleyball games, in the student section of our football games, and working behind the scenes of our Pep Rallies. Angel is also working in construction to help build projects for ASB. We have projects for the winter carnival as well as a super secret project that can't be revealed just yet. Angel likes long walks on the beach........................I digress. Angel is also a huge Spiderman fan.
