On 23 January 2026, a one-day design workshop titled “From Parks to Green Corridors” was held at Baku Photo House, bringing together students, young professionals, and practitioners in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design. Organized within the framework of the Azerbaijan Urban Campaign 2026 (AUC2026), the workshop contributed to the lead-up to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13). It explored how Baku’s existing parks and underutilized open spaces can be reimagined as part of a continuous, pedestrian- and bicycle-oriented green corridor, aligned with the city’s General Master Plan and SDG 11.7 on inclusive access to public spaces.
Through short conceptual presentations, site analysis, thematic discussions, and group work, participants examined the Green Route principle as a multi-layered urban system—linking ecological connectivity, active mobility, and high-quality public space design. The workshop emphasized the role of green infrastructure in enhancing biodiversity, mitigating urban heat, and fostering social interaction across neighborhoods, ages, and genders. Delivered by Rana Hummatli, Rashad Gasimov, and Elvin Mammadov, the workshop strengthened participants’ conceptual thinking and visual communication skills, encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration.
