Lute Swimming vs. George Fox 2024-2025 Pacific Lutheran University Swimming Digital Meet Program

Setting the Scene: Pacific Lutheran is back at home for the first of two straight home meets, welcoming Northwest Conference rival George Fox University to the PLU Pool. Today's dual meet is also senior day with the program honoring its four seniors at the conclusion of the meet.

About the Lute Men: Devin Stanley won a pair of events last Saturday as the Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team came up short 114-75 against Linfield University in the first Northwest Conference dual meet of the calendar year.

The senior's first victory came in the 50-yard freestyle, outdueling the field after touching the wall in 22.55 seconds. Teammate Anthony James was third overall in 23.28. Stanley capped off the meet by working with James, Dakota Domingo, and Dylan Dang to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:20.92, enjoying a three second gap on host Linfield.

Stanley additionally helped PLU's 400-yard medley team to a second place finish, teaming up with Tanaka, Dang, and Domingo to clock a time of 3:40.83, finishing just seven hundredths of a second behind the host Wildcats.

Christian Georgi logged a runner-up showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 11:08.48 while also placing runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.78. Ian Rho took second billing in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.14 while Elijah Vickery was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.53.

Aidan Koshinsky was second in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing the long distance swim in 5:36.16 while Tanaka was runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.74.

Logging third place finishes included Aidan Koshinsky in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.31), Domingo in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.55), and Dang in the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.07).

Last Saturday's meet was PLU's first intercollegiate competition since finishing runner-up at the Bruin Invitational back on Nov. 24.

About the Lute Women: The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team knocked off the rust after a 47-day layoff last Saturday, resuming the Northwest Conference dual meet season against Linfield University. The Lutes came up short in the team standings, falling 120-70 to the host Wildcats.

Scout Hawkins headlined the day, blowing away the field in the 200-yard breaststroke while the Lutes logged an additional eight runner-up finishes in the first racing of the 2025 calendar year.

Hawkins dominated the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in two minutes, 38.27 seconds, enjoying an eight second buffer on the rest of the field. That wouldn't be the only big swim for Hawkins on Saturday, also logging a runner-up showing in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:34.07) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.93).

PLU tallied runner-up finishes in both relays with Lola Chargualaf, Keira Iwamoto, Melissa Zuniga, and Matthea Gaines finishing the 400-yard medley relay in 4:27.14 to open the day while Riley Maher, Karina Yevstifieieva, Anna Haneda, and Gaines closed out the meet in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 3:55.84.

Chargualaf took second billing in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:11.15 while Maher was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:18.76. Yevstifieieva was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.87 while Ella Norby was runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle relay in 6:17.28.

About the George Fox Men: The Bruins (2-3) head to Tacoma looking to snap a three-meet dual meet slide. George Fox won its opening two NWC dual meets in convincing fashion in early November, dispatching Pacific University (154-25) and Willamette University (131-70) but has struggled since, dropping duals with Linfield University (125-79), Lewis & Clark College (171-144), and Whitworth University (143-61) last Saturday.

George Fox additionally won the Bruin Invitational back on Nov. 24, scoring 1,011 points to top the rest of the field.

About the George Fox Women: The Bruins (2-3) look to return to the win column after falling 148-54 to Whitworth last Saturday in the team's first dual meet of the calendar year.

Prior to that, the Bruins logged a runner-up finish at their own invitational in late November. During the early November dual meet slate, George Fox secured wins over both Pacific (132-63) and Lewis & Clark (162.5-133.5) while dropping duals against both Willamette (138-66) and Linfield (123-76).
