Pride Month June

During the month of June, we celebrate Pride Month by showcasing the accomplishments of LGBTQ individuals and acknowledge the struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.

JCPS Pride: LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group
Mental Health Resources for Employees Jefferson County Public Schools provides mental health resources through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP is a confidential, short-term counseling program offering traditional face-to-face or virtual counseling services with a licensed therapist.

The intent of this Spark is to provide information, resources, and support for JCPS employees. This is not comprehensive, as the contributions of LGTBQ+ Americans are far too in depth to be contained by this Spark. Let us all continue to amplify the voice and perspectives of marginalized groups both in the classroom and community.
