Thank you!
Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our Jersey Day fundraising initiative in aid of GOAL. We have well surpassed our €350 goal and raised over €1000 for a very worthy cause and it has provided us with a lovely opportunity to raise awareness with our students of those less fortunate than us. Míle buíochas!

Pumpkin Carving Competition & Exhibition
It's that time of the year again when we ask families to unleash their incredible creativitiy and take part in our pumpkin carving competition. This is a fantastic event in St Brigid's and this year we are asking parents to extend invitations to the wider community, so that we can raise much needed funds for our school! A special thank you to our wonderful PA and to Noel for their hard work in organising this event. Please find details of the Competition & Exhibition below:
Illness
The HSE have asked that we share some very important information below about knowing when your child is well enough to go to school. Please do not send your child to school if they have a temperature above 38degrees or if they have diarrhoea or vomiting.

Seeking Parent Nominee on Board of Management
Nominations will be sought from parents (mothers only) to stand for election as parent nominee on the Board of Management at our next Parents' Association Meeting on Wednesday 15th October at 8pm. All welcome!
Mobile Phone Policy
Parents who wish for their child to have a mobile phone/smart watch in school must write a letter addressed to the Chairperson of the Board of Management requesting permission at the beginning of each term. Failure to provide this letter may result in the phone/watch being confiscated.
Inclusion
This year in St Brigid's, as part of our School Improvement Plan (SIP), we are focusing on Inclusion. We will be taking an inclusive walkthrough our:
- culture & environment,
- curriculum (teaching & learning),
- policy & planning,
- & relationships & partnerships,
with a view to recognising what we have in place that is working well in terms of inclusion, and identifying areas where we can improve. Please get involved in inclusive conversations with your daughters and encourage them to participate in school improvement both directly in classroom discussions and through our wonderful, newly established, student council!
Special Education
Student Council
We are absolutely thrilled to announce our Student Council this year who were democratically elected to represent their classes:
Toilets
Following repeated incidences of Noel having to engage in plumbing works in both our senior and middle bathrooms, we are asking all students to reduce the amount of tissue paper they flush! We are also asking students who prefer not to use the hand dryers (due to noise) to bring in a small hand towel to reduce our school's massive amount of tissue paper usage! Your co-operation is greatly appreciated!
All Things Active
Swimming
Ms Flynn’s 1st class and Ms Thomas’ 4th class have started a fun 6-week block of swimming lessons. Ms Furey's special class will start swimming next week. As part of the PE curriculum, aquatics is an important strand that helps children build confidence and learn how to stay safe in the water. The pupils are really enjoying their time at the pool so far!
Who knows — we might have a few future swimming stars in the making. We’re looking forward to seeing plenty more Mona McSharrys in the years to come!
Camogie
We are thrilled to announce that our fantastic 6th class camogie team has qualified for the Fingal League Final, which will take place in Parnell Park next Thursday, the 16th of October at 12pm. The girls have shown incredible skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the league, after winning two matches and drawing one to finish top of their group. Their commitment at training and their positive team spirit have truly paid off!
We are so proud of their achievement and can’t wait to see them represent our school in the final. Let’s show them our full support on Thursday. We’d love to see as many parents, families, and friends as possible in Parnell Park cheering them on next Thursday. Go St Brigids!!💪
GAA
Our Gaelic football teams have been proudly representing our school in the Cumann na mBunscol competitions, showing incredible determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout. We are especially proud of our girls' team, whose hard work and dedication have brought them all the way to the semi-final stages!
In a fantastic quarter-final performance, they secured an impressive 3-8 to 0-8 victory, showcasing their talent and commitment on the pitch. Next week, they face St. Mary’s NS, Garristown in what promises to be an exciting and competitive semi-final clash. We wish the girls the very best of luck – the whole school is behind you!
Tag Rugby Blitz
Our 5th and 6th classes will take part in a Tag Rugby Blitz on Monday, 20th October at the Alfie Byrne pitches in Clontarf. Only uniform items may be worn e.g. school tracksuit/school shorts. The girls have been doing tag rugby sessions for the past three Mondays and are looking forward to putting their skills into practice! We’re hoping for dry weather and plenty of great games!
Cricket
As part of European Week of Sports, our sixth class girls were invited by Dublin City Council (DCC) to take part in a cricket blitz on the Alfie Byrne pitches in Clontarf. They had a super time and the DCC kindly gifted our school a cricket set!
Cross Country
Third to sixth classes went to St Anne's park to take part in the cross country races as part of the European Week of Sports. Well done to everyone who took part- we took home some medals and trophies!
Sports Sessions with Coach David

What's Going On in school?
Orchestra
Our school orchestra, under the direction of Ms Elizabeth Wilson, are delighted to be selected to take part in this years' Primary Ensemble Project presented by the National Concert Hall (NCH) in collaboration with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. This is an incredible experience for students whereby specialist tutors will visit our school for three engaging and interactive workshops during the academic year. Tutors will help ensemble our musicians to develop aural and technical skills, and performance and improvisation techniques.
After these workshops, the orchestra will come together with other schools at the NCH and perform for their family and friends.
Biodiversity
Ms Thomas' and Ms McKenna’s fourth class have begun their exciting biodiversity workshops with Global Action Plan Ireland. Over the next 6 weeks, Emer and Fiach will be joining us to explore the wonders of biodiversity and nature in our community garden. So far, we’ve enjoyed exciting scavenger hunts, learned nature songs, written beautiful nature poems, and had an amazing time discovering the plants and creatures around us. We can’t wait to see what other nature adventures the next few weeks will bring!
Casino in Marino
On Monday, 29th September, our two Fifth Classes enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Casino at Marino. The children explored the historic rooms and learned all about the building’s fascinating architecture and design. A big thank you to Robert, our fabulous tour guide, for bringing history to life and making the visit so engaging and enjoyable!
Trip to the Theatre
Sixth class took a trip to the Sean O'Casey theatre this month to see the play Bullied. The girls really enjoyed the play which was an eye opening experience! Bullied is a cross-generational play with a grandaughter and her grandfather facing up to, and finally challenging the online and secret world of cyber communication.
Modern Languages
Our 5th and 6th Classes have begun a 10-week Spanish programme with Languages Connect. Pupils are learning new words and phrases each week and exploring different aspects of Spanish culture. Our Student Council is also getting involved by reading a Spanish phrase over the intercom each week, helping everyone in the school to learn together.
