Mayor Bob Whalen Talks LCR Median Landscaping Project and City Website Enhancements

In today's Podcast, Mayor Bob Whalen further explains the Laguna Canyon Road Median Landscaping project and how the City will add more trees by January 2024.

He also talks about the City's website enhancements and how it is now easier to submit public comments prior to a City Council Meeting.

LBUSD Celebrates Grand Opening of Newly-Renovated Family Resource Center

On Wednesday, the Laguna Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), in collaboration with SchoolPower, held the grand opening of the new Laguna Beach Family Resource Center.

The newly remodeled Family Resource Center serves as a resource hub dedicated to building LBUSD family engagement by providing community activities, confidential counseling, and support services for student success.
The City of Laguna Beach has launched the 2023 City Photo Contest! The City’s photo contest is open to those who live, work, or exhibit in Laguna Beach. Entries are due November 13, 2023. This year’s photo contest theme is “Through the Lens of Laguna Beach!” We encourage images that depict the vibrancy, vitality, and livability of our City. First prize photos in each category will receive $500. Additional winners will receive $100 each. All winners will receive recognition at a City Council Meeting, be featured on the City’s social media channels, and will be posted in a gallery on the City’s website. The winners will be selected by a local professional photographer.

Participate in the City's 4th Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest

The City's fourth annual Pumpkin Carving Contest is open to all who live, work, attend school, or exhibit in Laguna Beach. Pre-registration required by Thursday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m. All pumpkins must be carved at home and dropped off at the Community and Susi Q Center on Monday, October 30.

Contest-winning pumpkins will be displayed at the Promenade from October 30 - November 1, 2024. Awards will be given for: the most original, scariest, best overall, and Mayor’s Award. Pumpkins may be carved, painted, airbrushed or sculpted, should not exceed 15” high by 15” wide.

Save the Date: Climate Action & Adaptation Plan Community Open House is November 14

The City of Laguna Beach is updating the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), the community’s strategy to address climate change. The CAAP will direct how the City will continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve community-wide resilience to climate change-related disasters. Community engagement is a critical component of CAAP development.

LOCA's Hosting Champagne Brunch & Annual Meeting is This Sunday 🥂

LOCA is hosting its annual meeting and a champagne brunch on Sunday, October 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at the Healy House at the Sawdust Festival Grounds (935 Laguna Canyon Road).

To round out the fun, LOCA will offer a live auction for a unique LOCA art experience, a silent auction for gifts and dining experiences everyone will want, and a festive "wishing tree" activity, whereby supporters may donate any amount, and hang a decorative tag on the tree to mark the donation.

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is developing the 2024 OC Transit Vision Master Plan (OC Transit Vision), which is a 30-year plan aimed to integrate, enhance, and expand transportation services in Orange County including bus, streetcar, microtransit, and other mobility services.
