Colmore Junior School autumn term: week: 2

Highlights of the week

This week has been another fantastic one at Colmore Junior School! It has been a pleasure to see how quickly the children have settled back in. Their books are already have some beautifully presented pieces in them, which is a great sign of their engagement and enthusiasm.

A special highlight this week was the internet safety workshop for Year 6, led by Loudmouth. The session was incredibly engaging, focusing on important topics such as misinformation and fake news. It's crucial that our older pupils are equipped with the skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

Behaviour Questionnaire: Thank You for Your Feedback

Thank you to the parents who have already completed the behaviour questionnaire. Your input is invaluable as we make this one of our focuses for school improvement this year. We have already received 30 responses, which gives us a great starting point. As a reminder, the more responses we receive, the more accurate our data will be.

The children and staff will also be completing their own versions of the survey in the coming weeks. If you haven't had a chance to complete it, please do so by Friday, September 19th.

You can access the survey here:

School Code: Colmore-25

Parent Passcode: 379511

Have a wonderful weekend.

In 5B this week the children made presentations about why they would be good ambassadors for their class. They talked confidently about their skills and attributes and why these would benefit the roles of Pupil Voice and Wellbeing Ambassador.

Year 4 carried out some inference reading this week using the Pickle Jar as inspiration for their work. They thought about what they would have in their pickle jars and what was special to them.
Year 6 have been finding out about Mary Anning in their science lessons this week. They have worked hard to carry out research in to her life and work.
3C have been working hard in their maths this week. They were looking at place value and carried out some super reasoning in their books.

On Monday, year 5 visited the park to gain inspiration for their setting description writing based on ‘Born to Run’ by Michael Morpurgo.

They were then able to use their senses to write their descriptions.
Year 6 have started their history topic on Britain at War by finding out about these key words in relation to the First World War.

Year 3 have been sorting information using Venn diagrams today and making the most of the sunshine.

Our new house and vice captains got set to work today with their weekly housepoint counting role! They had their work cut out as there has clearly been lots of good work and good behaviour being rewarded this week!
