CRA Newsletter 21.06.2024 Half Term 6 - June 2024

SLT Update

On Wednesday, we said a sad goodbye to our Year 11s who had their last exam and leavers assembly. During the assembly, we reminisced on the experiences they have shared together as a year group and whole school and dug out lots of old photos to embarrass them and make them smile in their video montage!

Lots of our students took part in the Summer Cup trials at Grantham Meres on Thursday. Our students showed real confidence on the track, competing against the other DRET academies and we look forward to Summer Cup on 9th July.

Next week we have our Lyp Sync battle on Tuesday, which all the houses are very excited about taking part in or watching and SLT have prepared an act too! Having fun with the students is an important part of the CRA experience!

On Tuesday we also have a drop down day for all students with year 7 and 8 completing a day of volunteering activities, Year 9 going to ARU to experience vocational FE and year 10 doing some work on careers and aspirations.

Next week our focus for raising standards is on behaviour in non-teaching time. This will include reminders about being a no touch academy, IE expectations, toilet passes, good manners and saying sorry and tutor time, assembly and CRA Reads.

CRA Character

This week, in PSHCE lessons, our students have been completing Olympic Rings for the gratitude tree. Students have been recognising values linked to our CRA values and the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship. We feel as a community that it is important to recognise and give praise to our students for their efforts and support them in understanding the importance of developing those values during their time at CRA and outside of school to improve their own character. We can all always do better and we want our students to be the best version of themselves.

Word of the week..

  • Previous existing or occurring before in time or order.
  • Predicate found or base something on, or the part of a sentence or clause containing a verb and stating something about the subject (e.g. went home in John went home ).

Times Tables

At the end of all lessons students stand behind their chairs in silence to prepare for themselves for the next lesson. From September, on a weekly rota, Years 7 and 8 will be reciting their timetables to help embed them in their long term memory.

Free Sports Sessions

Please find attached a link to sports sessions that are ran by Grantham Positive Futures for free around Grantham.

Please can all students be collected from the BACK of the school when being picked up from after school clubs and fixtures.

Sports Kit

Please can any borrowed sports kit be returned as soon as possible. We have trainers, hoodies, netball dresses and football kit (shirts, shorts and socks) that have not been returned. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue

My name is Sam Ward, and I'm contacting you from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue (LFR). We're currently running a recruitment drive for on-call firefighters across Lincolnshire and are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team.

As part of our outreach efforts, we're reaching out to schools in the area to see if they'd be willing to include an information sheet in their upcoming newsletters distributed to parents.

The information sheet details the application process, the valuable role on-call firefighters play in our communities, and the benefits of joining LFR. We believe this would be a great opportunity to raise awareness of this rewarding position among parents who might be interested in making a difference.

I've attached the information sheet to this email for your reference. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or require any further information.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
