Construction

For January construction is working on OSHA 10, when the students complete the course they will get a certificate and a card to carry.

Sports Medicine

Level 1's focused on learning about the cardiovascular system (blood, blood vessels, and the heart). They will also have the opportunity to create a 3D heart to learn about heart blood flow and how each individual flap works to get blood/oxygen in and out of our hearts.

Level 2's have been working on hip and pelvis injuries. Learning how to assess, treat, and rehab those injuries. As well as learning how to correctly brace them when needed.

Level 3's are learning how to handle and manage emergency situations. Example: use of an epi-pen, how to call 911, managing & identifying allergic reactions.

Entrepreneurship

Year 1: We started the new year off with a fun activity, a 3D pen project. We then resumed working on our understanding of business departments, their purpose and why their functions are critical to a businesses success. We are now moving into our business plan phase where we will not only learn what a business plan is, why they are needed and are important, the students will be writing a modified business plan for a business of their choice.

Year 2: We started off the year with a fun production activity, they worked on their 3D design and print projects. They were asked to design 3 specific designs based on specifications provided. Many of the students have finished the prints and have been printing additional designs they have created. We then moved onto product design/development. Here we learned the various phases of product development and how each stage is important to the overall success of the product. This led us into the product life cycles showing the stages of products on the market from launch to product decline.

Digital Media

Digital media had a busy January. All students took a visit to MSJC's Menifee campus. These students were able to explore the campus, and meet the instructor of the digital media program. They were able to view their studio and were given more information about how the Tahquitz's Digital Media pathway has an articulation with MSJC's. Our level 2 students were also able to visit CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. Here they were able to talk with the media department about courses offered at their campus.
