Tritons Cruise Past Lynn on Senior Day

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's basketball team locked in the No. 4 seed in the SSC Tournament next week with a wire-to-wire win over Lynn, 65-54, at the McArthur Center on senior day on Saturday.

After being tied 8-8, Eckerd rolled off 10 straight points to take a 10-point lead before taking an 18-12 favor at the end of the first. After an initial basket by both teams in the second, they went quiet until the 4:52 mark. EC and LU traded baskets for the rest of the half, with Eckerd holding a 30-21 lead at the break.

Eckerd opened the second half on an 11-3 run to take an 18-point lead, but Lynn followed with a 14-1 run to cut their deficit to five with 1:43 left in the third. The Tritons added a late triple to take a 50-42 lead at the end of the third. The Knights cut their deficit to six to start the frame, but the Tritons responded with back-to-back layups to push back in front by 10. EC cruised the rest of the way for a 65-54 victory.
