Cowbridge Lower School Newsletter 12.01.2024

A big Happy New Year and Blwyddyn Newydd Dda from all of us in Lower School. We've had a busy week with new children joining our Nursery class and hearing all about children's adventures over Christmas.

The children loved the sprinkling of snow and icy puddles that the cold weather brought. Our two pond areas at the back of the school have had a lovely icy layer on them, it was so thick earlier in the week!

Both Nursery and Reception went out to feel the crunchy feel of the grass under their feet and the feel of the cold on their hands. Nursery donned their wellies and went off to find some puddles with some ice on the top to try and crunch! Mr Davis wanted to find as many as possible and they loved exploring!

Nursery have been learning all about the new year. Fireworks, cakes and singing have been happening in the class all week! Our older Nursery children have been amazing at helping settle their new friends into the class. There have been lots of cuddles, kind words and reassurance, a big diolch yn fawr to them 👏🥰

Reception have been recalling their Christmas adventures and have written thank you letters to Father Christmas for all their toys. They have also been learning all about snow and what houses made out of snow are called. They have started their topic of 'ready, steady grow' by reading the book 'The Enormous Turnip' and made up their own version of events then acting them out. Frau Powlson from the big school came over and taught them their next German lesson all about colours, danke!
