Campbell Law in Cambridge
Campbell Law School students who are participating in the Cambridge, England Study Abroad Program at historic Sidney Sussex College have had the opportunity over five weeks to learn from Professor Lisa Lukasik, who teaches a comparative study of U.S., British and European Union law. Dean J. Rich Leonard also visited offering a lecture on “Professionalism in an International Practice” in the Education as a Human Right class. The program is held in conjunction with Samford University Cumberland School of Law. In addition to the Cumberland Law students, Campbell Law students also had the opportunity to network and connect with colleagues at sister law schools in Mississippi and Virginia. The program’s opening dinner was held in Cambridge Union Society, a historic debating and free speech society at Cambridge University. It's the oldest continuously running debating society in the world, according to Lukasik. As part of their studies, students visited the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. “The visits have been inspirational,” Lukasik said. “We've met some impressive attorneys doing important work to uphold and enforce human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Europe.” Finally this week, the 24 Campbell Law students were welcomed into the International Scholars Society in recognition of their achievements in Cambridge this summer, according to Lukasik. Campbell Law to offer Advanced CLE course on Expert Testimony on Oct. 8-10
Campbell Law will offer an intensive three-day Continuing Legal Education (CLE) course on the effective use of expert witnesses before and during a trial on Oct. 8-10, Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced. The comprehensive program offers attorneys a unique opportunity to develop and refine their skills in working with expert witnesses through both theoretical instruction and hands-on practical exercises, says Professor Chris Cox, director of Campbell Law’s Advocacy Program. The course is designed to provide attorneys with real-world experience in consulting with actual experts and conducting direct and cross-examinations in a realistic trial setting, Cox said. Participants will engage in a complex mock case involving a fatality in an automobile collision, working directly with practicing experts to understand the nuances of expert testimony from both preparation and presentation perspectives. This practical approach ensures that attendees immediately gain applicable skills that can enhance their trial advocacy. Register at this link.
