Dear Nu Nu Chapter Friends,
I recently returned from Sigma’s Biennial Convention feeling inspired and incredibly proud to be part of such a powerful community of nurses. The leadership, scholarship, and advocacy on display reminded me just how strong our collective voice can be when we come together with purpose. One of the most meaningful moments of the convention was the installation of our new international president, Liz Westcott, whose call to action, “Lead Together", resonated deeply with me. And I’m happy to say that our Nu Nu Chapter is already answering that call. We are leading together right here in our community. Through our service at the Ogden Rescue Mission and through our giving to veterans, families, and children, we are making a real difference. These efforts reflect the heart of nursing—compassion and advocacy—and they demonstrate what is possible when we unite around shared values.
As always, I encourage you to participate in the ways that inspire you—whether attending events, volunteering, or simply connecting. Thank you for your passion and commitment to nursing and our Nu Nu Chapter
With gratitude and enthusiasm,
JoAnn Tolman, SNP, MSN, RN, CNE, President Nu Nu Chapter

A Few Thoughts from the Leadership Team
To the Architects of Excellence
Leading in nursing is a profound duality: it is both the stewardship of care and the cultivation of the next generation. To our nurse leaders at the bedside and in the classroom: thank you. Whether you are navigating a complex unit crisis or mentoring a student through their first clinical rotation, you are the bridge between theory and healing. Your leadership doesn't just solve today’s challenges; it builds the competence and confidence that will define the future of healthcare. You aren't just managing teams; you are growing the heroes of tomorrow.
Why your dual role matters:
- The Mentors: You turn "I can't" into "I'm learning" for every new nurse.
- The Visionaries: You translate complex evidence-based practice into compassionate action.
- The Stabilizers: You provide the psychological safety that allows both staff and students to thrive.
Reach out to us if you want to get involved in a small or big way. Together, we can achieve great things!
Congratulations to our Scholarship Recipient
The winner of the Sisters of Saint Benedict Scholarship is Camille Talamantes, a current DNP-FNP student at the Annie Taylor Dee School of Nursing.
A message from Camille: I am deeply honored and grateful to be selected as a recipient of the Sisters of Saint Benedict Scholarship. Their decades of service, compassion, and dedication to caring for the Northern Utah community make this award especially meaningful. As a single parent pursuing my nurse practitioner education, this scholarship provides not only valuable financial support but also heartfelt encouragement during my academic journey. I am deeply grateful that you consider my education worth investing in. I hope to carry forward the compassion and dedication that the Sisters of Saint Benedict embodied. Please know that this support inspires me to continue working hard and giving back to my community in the same spirit of service.
