Barcelona Skateparks
MACBA, right in front of the museum of contemporary art, is one of Barcelona’s most iconic street skating spots. It features long granite benches and stairs perfect for practising showy tricks. Skateboarders are officially authorised to skate here on Tuesday and Sunday evenings.
Mar Bella is situated by the beach and offers a variety of obstacles for skaters at all levels, including 3 different sized bowls. It also has rails and ledges.
Placa dels Paisos Catalans
The Plaza dels Paisos Catalans is a large square in front of the Sants railway station (Estació de Ferrocarril de Sants) in the district of Sants-Montjuc. It borders carrer de Tarragona, carrer de Numància and Avinguda Roma. It was designed by architects Albert Viaplana and Helio Pinon and inaugurated in 1983. The square is characterized by its absence of vegetation and the influence of industrial architecture.
The impact of the underground railway station could be recognized in the design of the square through objects belonging to this type of architecture. The curved canopy, for example, resembles the shed that covers train platforms, while the enormous rectangular structure connotes steel canopies covering trains.
There are several ways to get to Placa dels Paisos Catalans from Barcelona Sants Station. You can take a taxi, a train or the metro. The fastest way is to take a train, which takes about 25 minutes. The price of a single ticket is €3. Alternatively, you can purchase a T-Casual transport ticket from the airport.
Forum Universal de las Cultures
The Universal Forum of Cultures is a new international event focused on world culture. Its professed aim is to encourage dialogue and encourage fresh attitudes towards moving towards a conflict-free world. It is organized by Barcelona's city council, the Catalan autonomous government and UNESCO.
Its central plaza and the area that surrounds it are a large public park called Parc del Forum, and it hosts massive events such as Primavera Sound, the Summercase festival and the huge concerts at La Merce. The complex also houses the Catalonia April Fair and other major festivals.
The Forum district was built to host the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures, which was intended to promote dialogue on cultures and to promote a multicultural society. It was designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron and opened in May 2004. However, it soon became a site of controversy and protest due to its promotion of white culture, which drew criticism from many activists and groups.
La Barceloneta
The city seems to be built for skateboarding – it’s a cruiser-friendly place with plenty of great spots. From beside the sea to urban spaces in the heart of the city, there’s something for everyone. MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art) is undoubtedly the most iconic street skating spot in Barcelona. Skateboarders can be found there every day of the week and it’s usually pretty crowded.
The Port Forum tile waves are another good spot for cruisers, but the bricks are a little rough so you may have more fun with larger wheels and softer tires. There are also a lot of curbs and manual pads in this area.
One of the newest skateparks in Barcelona is Skatepark de Les Corts. Located under an overpass, it has ramps and stairs for all levels of skaters. The park has cool urban aesthetics and is a perfect spot for beginner classes. There are even pyramids and walls to practice tricks on. For more details please visit skateparks de Barcelona
