Middle School Weight Training and Speed Development @ ZCHS
- We will again be offering our winter middle school weight training sessions beginning Monday 2/23 and concluding on Wednesday 3/25. These sessions will be conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00pm for 5th and 6th grade and 7:00-8:00pm for 7th and 8th grade.
- The weight room is ESSENTIAL to all athletic performance in any sport that students can participate in at ZHS.
- During these sessions, athletes will receive instruction that will prepare them for their transition through middle school and into high school. These are NOT sessions in which they will be asked to lift a heavy amount of weight. These sessions are technique based and will teach them to move properly under progressive resistance. They will learn how to conduct workouts in our weight room setting safely and efficiently.
- There is a fee involved that we use to pay the coaches who conduct the sessions but primarily the funds are used to fund additions and upgrades to our weight room.
- If the fee is a problem, please reach out to "Coach Scott Turnquist" <sturnquist@zcs.k12.in.us> and he will work to help with that. Please don’t let the fee be a reason to not have your athlete participate.
- Lastly, we will also be conducting Speed development sessions on Sundays beginning Sunday 2/22 and concluding Sunday 3/22. 5th and 6th grade sessions will be from 12:30-1:30pm and 7th and 8th grade sessions will be from 1:30-2:30pm. These are also crucial to their development as they move toward our high school football program. These sessions will be available for sign up very soon so please check back to see when they become available.
If there is anyone else, you feel might be interested in these sessions please feel free to share with them as well. Look forward to seeing you at our sessions soon! Link for Training Sign Up:Â https://www.zionsvilleeaglerec.com/zms-sports.cfm
