Autumn 2 - Newsletter

Tymor y Hydref 2 -Cylchllythyr

Dear all at home,

I hope you're all doing well. It's been a busy time at Llansannor, and I'm excited to share some of the fantastic things that have been happening.

First off, I want to give a big shout-out to our amazing pupils. The learning that's been going on in our topic work has been absolutely fabulous. It's wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enthusiastic about their studies. Keep up the great work, everyone!

I was blown away by the talent and hard work on display at our Christmas Concerts. It's always a joy to see our pupils shine on stage, and this year was no exception. Well done to all involved – you should be really proud of yourselves.

We've also had some fantastic learning experiences at our Places of Worship visits. These trips are so important in helping us recognise and encourage diversity. It's brilliant to see our pupils embracing different cultures and beliefs with such open minds and hearts.

Now, I'd like to take a moment to say a massive thank you to our Friends of Llansannor. They've done an incredible job organising the Christmas fete, raffle, and refreshments during our school concerts. These events don't just happen by magic, and we're so grateful for all their hard work and dedication. It really makes a difference to our school community.

Another big shout out to the staff at Llansannor, they all work exceptionally hard to ensure the best education, and learning experiences, for your children. I would like to thank them personally and wish them a restful break!

Just a couple of quick notices for parents: Please make sure you've got the school app installed and you're checking it regularly. It's the best way to stay up to date with all the latest news and information. Also, don't forget that the spring calendar dates are now available on our website. It's always good to plan ahead!

I'm really looking forward to the term ahead. There's so much to be excited about, and I can't wait to see what our wonderful pupils will achieve next.

I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Take care, everyone, and here's to another great term at Llansannor & Llanharry CiW Primary School!

Pupil voice groups - Senedd ysgol Llansannor

This term, our wonderful school council have received training from the Senedd. The children learnt about the role of members of the Senedd and members of the school council. We are are ready to work with the school community to discuss ideas and make decisions for our school. The school council are passionate about children sharing their voices and really hope to listen and make a difference.

Eco committee - we continue to work hard on improving our recycling at Llansannor. This year we are working toward gaining the Bronze Eco flag award. The children have learnt about cause and affect of climate change and created artwork to plea for climate justice. Many piece of art were selected for display in an exhibition run by Christian Aid.

Playground Pal / Ffrindiau Iach - we continue to ensure playtimes are happy for the children. The new playtime equipment has been well received.

Learning leaders - we are working on creating opportunities for children to practise writing skills in class. We are also planning World book day.

Digital leaders - we continue to make sure children know how to stay safe online following the S.M.A.R.T rules.

Criw Cymraeg - siarad Cymraeg is important to us and we are planning exciting learning for the children. We look forward to seeing you at our Bore Coffi in January.

Worship leaders - we continue to welcome everyone at our school. The competition to design welcome art in taking place. The money raised from Christmas concert tickets will allow us to work with an artist in designing Welcome / Croeso art.

UNCRC Rights of the child

The children continue to learn about the UNCRC Rights of the child. Our first and second minister, and year 5 school council representatives met the Children's Commissioner Rico Cifuentes. This term we have been focussing on enabling the rights - looking at the role of the right bearer (the children) and the right giver) the adults.

Article 28 – You have the right to an education.

Article 12 – You have the right to be listened to and taken seriously.

Article 19 – You have the right to be protected from being hurt or badly treated.

Article 14 – You have the right to practice your own religion, as long as you’re not stopping people from enjoying their rights.

Selection Boxes

Another great big thank you to Llanharry Community Council for the generous donation of the selection boxes for all of our pupils.

We are very grateful!

Parcio / Parking

We would be very grateful if you could park considerately at all times.

It’s crucial that we do not block the lane, as this can cause unnecessary congestion and safety concerns for our pupils.

Additionally, to help ease the traffic around the entrance, please stay in your cars and refrain from coming up to the gate during drop-off and pick-up times.

Your cooperation in these matters is greatly appreciated and will help ensure a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Lluniau / Photos from Llansannor!

After careful consideration, and as previously communicated, we have decided to no longer use Twitter as a platform for sharing updates and photos of our pupils' learning. This decision comes from growing concerns around the platform and its impact on our community. We believe it’s crucial to ensure a safe and positive environment for everyone involved.

Moving forward, we will be sharing photos of our pupils' learning experiences on our school website. You can easily access these updates by visiting the following link: https://llansannor-cw-primary-school.secure-primarysite.net/photos-from-llansannor/

We’re excited to continue showcasing the wonderful things happening at our school in a more secure space.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we make this transition.

Parent communication groups

I am writing to you regarding the use of parent WhatsApp groups. I know that these are invaluable for parents and that they can be useful to remember key dates and events.

Although not school based, it is essential that we maintain a constructive and respectful tone within these groups. We kindly ask that you refrain from making any comments that could be perceived as unkind or critical towards the school or its staff members.

Our school's vision and values, which include respect, compassion, and responsibility, are at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where all members of our community feel valued and supported.

If you have any concerns or suggestions regarding school life, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome your constructive feedback.

Take a look at all our latest pupil achievements on our website,

We are so proud of you all!

Retirement Announcement

After a prolonged illness, Helen Griffiths has decided to retire. Helen loved her time working at Llansannor School and will miss it terribly. Helen would like to thank the Governors, staff and parents, past and present for making it a lovely workplace. Most of all, she would like to thank all the friends she has made over the years, and all of the children who have passed through the school, who she will really miss

Presenoldeb / Attendance

I wanted to take a moment to remind you of the importance of good attendance for our pupils. Regular attendance at school is crucial for a child's academic and social development. When pupils miss out on lessons and activities, they can quickly fall behind their peers and struggle to catch up. This can lead to gaps in their learning and understanding, which can be difficult to overcome.

I understand that there may be times when your child is unwell or has a family emergency that requires them to miss school. However, I would encourage you to make every effort to ensure your child attends school regularly, except in these exceptional circumstances.

Good attendance not only benefits your child's education but also helps to foster a sense of belonging and community within our school. Pupils who attend school consistently are more likely to feel engaged and connected to their classmates and teachers, which can have a positive impact on their overall well-being and happiness.

If you have any concerns or questions about your child's attendance, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's class teacher or to the school office. We are here to support you and your family, and we are committed to working together to ensure your child's success.
