Bristol Somali Youth Voice & Creative Youth Network Community Football Session.
I've had the privilege of filming and editing this local project run by a collaboration between Bristol Creative Youth Network and Bristol Somali Youth Voice. I have a lot of respect for the organisers of these initiatives, who are truly in touch with the kids' needs and challenges.
BBC's The Wedding Guru
I was the B-camera operator for series one of the BBC's The Wedding Guru. Following the very funny Onkar Singh Purewal around South Wales as he grew as a wedding planner, following in his father's footsteps. This production was one of my first steps into the film and television industry as a camera operator.
Nakba Day: Pro Palestine Demonstration
I filmed and edited a short film following Bristol City Councillor Abdul Mallik as he co-organised a Nakba Day demonstration. Abdul is a member of the Green Party and the chair of a large mosque in Easton, Bristol. Overall, it was an impressive and heartfelt demonstration with high-quality messaging. #FreePalestine
Rise for the Wye - Documentary
I worked with documentary writer and director Charlotte Sawyer, self-shooting and sourcing contributors on her second feature film Rise for the Wye. Charlotte has just finished her first feature documentary about river pollution named Rave on for the Avon. Rise for the Wye follows campaigners advocating for a clean and biodiverse River Wye.
And Still We Rise
Director/producer. Self Shooter.
Set around the construction of the most expensive railway on earth, England’s new High Speed rail-line (HS2), this intimate fly-on-the-wall documentary follows three women from different walks of life dedicated to fighting against the injustices they see and feel as the project tears through homes and ancient woodlands.
Through their personal journeys we explore the relationship and meaning of community, nature and home. This is their story, the story of oppression, defiance, joy and unity.
