Basketball

Basketball fell in the District Semifinal after an opening round win at Copley and finishing 13-9 in the regular season. Highlights from the season included impressive wins over Gilmour, Cleveland Central Catholic, CVCA, and Lutheran West. Serving as team captain was Aditya Nalla '26.

“What sets US Basketball apart this season is how close we were. We played like brothers, and that carefree, competitive, and selfless approach showed every time we stepped on the court. I have deep respect and love for the guys I’ve battled with over the past four years." - Kingston Oliver '26

Hockey

Hockey fell in the Kent Regional Final and finished the season 23-13-2. Patrick Corcoran '26 served as team captain while classmates Finn Bryan, Carson Barlow, and Z Cimoroni were assistant captains.

“There are many things I already miss about US hockey, but one that stands out is the mantra we come up with each year to define the team. This year, we were the US hockey train. After New Year’s, we all jumped aboard and got it rolling in the right direction, taking out anyone who stood in our way all the way to our final game. While the season didn’t end the way we wanted, the lessons we learned and the friendships we built will keep our train moving for a lifetime.” - Z Cimoroni ’26

Squash

Squash finished the regular season with a 15-3 record before heading to Philadelphia for the National Championship. US secured impressive wins over St. Louis MICDS, St. Andrews (DE), and Lake Forest Academy (IL) this year. Serving as team captains were Iggy Lahorra ’26 and Dan Miklus ’26.

“The US squash team is truly a special community. The lengthy bus rides and late nights created bonds like no other. Each team member showed great dedication to upholding the standard every day. The group quickly became a family that supported each other, not just on the court but also in the classroom. The program allowed me to develop from a mentee needing guidance to a mentor ready to guide. I know that the underclassmen will grow similarly and lead the team to continue its rich tradition.” - Iggy Lahorra '26

Swimming & Diving

Swimming and Diving won its fifth consecutive OHSAA Division 2 State Championship, the eleventh in program history. Serving as team captains were seniors Paul Moody, Brendan Sulak, and Danny Sullivan.

“People often say swimming and diving isn’t a team sport, but this year that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Last year, the team graduated a class of seasoned swimmers, leaving a gap in the roster. This year showed me what’s possible when determination and work ethic come together, and what it truly means to be a teammate. It taught me that success isn’t just about individual performance, but about showing up for others and overcoming challenges together.” - Danny Sullivan '26

Wrestling

Wrestling finished seventh at the Division 2 Sectional Tournament and had four athletes qualify for the District Championship where they finished 30th out of 59 teams. Doyle Grosz '27 qualified for the State Championship for the second consecutive year. George Atkinson '26, Grosz, Mac Hurley '27, and Phin Kasubick '27 served as team captains.

"My time as a wrestler at US truly encapsulates the incredible experiences this community can provide. From beginning as a nervous eighth grader encouraged by my then-sponsor Coach McCarter to give the sport a try, I have grown and developed as an athlete, a teammate, and a man. The things I will remember most fondly are not the matches I won or lost, but the memories I made with my teammates. I've been fortunate to see our program evolve and reach new heights throughout my time here, and I'm positive it will continue this upward trajectory. I'm so excited to see what my teammates will accomplish, and I'll miss wearing the maroon and black immensely." - George Atkinson '26
