Hey Dustdevils,
- Hey Dustdevils, This past Saturday, we were proud to welcome 200+ future Dustdevils and their families to Preview Day at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Our prospective Dustdevils learned about the University’s academic programs, student services, on-campus housing and campus traditions. Our best to all of them, and we hope to see many of them return to TAMIU as incoming, first-year students. Most importantly, we hope that these students realized that a university education is within reach and is the key to their future.
- Spring Break is right around the corner, Dustdevils. Join us for Spring Break Revolution Week, a series of events focused on promoting a positive, safe and healthy Spring Break for all our students, happening March 2 – 6. A full event lineup is now online at https://www.tamiu.edu/studentaffairs/sbr.shtml
- Also happening this week is a special sign unveiling ceremony recognizing the newly named Kate Marmion Counseling Center. The event commemorates the contributions of the Kate Marmion Charitable Foundation to TAMIU. The ceremony is slated for Thursday, March 5 at 1 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda. We will also have a ceremony on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. for the unveiling of a plaque to recognize the Sonia and Memo Benavides Immersive Theatre. Each of these events demonstrates that we have wonderful community partners that care about our students and who are committed to investing in TAMIU’s mission to further student success.
- Discover TAMIU 2026 is nearly here! Our annual celebration features 100+ family-friendly activities for attendees of all ages. We will offer arts and crafts tables, games, live science demonstrations, music and dance performances, and more. In October 2025, TAMIU students voted to support a referendum to maintain and enhance Rec Sports services. A total of 67.1% of students supported the measure via a three-day online vote. The proposed increase would help support the replacement of aging fitness equipment, increased cleaning costs, added student programming and more.
Travel Advisory - Mexico (Spring Break)
The U.S. Department of State advises exercising increased caution in Mexico due to widespread crime, violence, and kidnapping risks. Many areas experience robberies, carjackings and violent incidents. Several regions are designated "Do Not Travel", including areas near the northern border, certain states affected by cartel activity, and remote locations.
University community guidance:
- Reconsider all non-essential travel to Mexico this Spring Break.
- Avoid high-risk and remote areas.
- Stay alert to local news and official advisories.
- Follow instructions from local authorities.
- Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for updates and emergency support.
Your safety is our top priority.
