Wellbeing at its heart… the future of healthcare in rural Cheshire "The NHS will last as long as there are folk left with faith to fight for it" Aneurin Bevan

We worked with a GP practice and it’s Patient Participation Group (PPG) to build a new medical centre and wellbeing hub right in the heart of a rural Cheshire village.

The new Kelsall Medical Centre and Wellbeing Hub officially opened its doors to patients in May 2023, offering essential healthcare services to the local community, including general practice, dispensary, and wellbeing services.

With the new facility able to serve over 9,000 patients, the practice are now able to provide a higher quality of care to their patients whilst providing a more comfortable working environment for their staff and are prepared for any potential future growth.

The practice contributed greatly to the design of their new building ensuring that the state-of-the-art building encapsulated their vision. Features include modern consultation rooms dispensary, and a light and airy waiting space for patients. The practice offers a range of health services including, physiotherapy, screenings, minor surgery, antenatal care to name a few.

" This new facility will enable us to provide the highest quality of care to our patients, and we are confident that it will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the wider community."

Julie Johnson, Practice Manager at Kelsall Medical Centre

In order to take a holistic approach to healthcare, the new building includes a Wellbeing Hub, which will provides a variety of activities and services aimed at improving the overall health and wellbeing of the community, including art sessions for people with dementia and Tai Chi to help people with their balance, flexibility and stability.

The PPG played a significant role in making the dream of a wellbeing hub, which includes a community cafe in the new medical centre a reality and together they raised over £100,000 to go towards the development cost of this fantastic community space.

"We are very excited to be able to offer a range of wellbeing activities and services to the community. We believe that our programmes will make a real difference to people's lives and we look forward to working with the local community to promote health and wellbeing."

Helen Ritchie, Wellbeing Hub Manager.

The Kelsall Medical Centre and Wellbeing Hub was officially opened by Lady Alexis Redmond – Lieutenant of Cheshire.

Upon the opening of the new building, a spokesperson for the Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care System in Cheshire West said: “We are very pleased that the Kelsall Medical Centre and Wellbeing Hub will provide modern fit for purpose facilities for their local population. This facility will support patients to access a range of health and care services working in a more integrated way to meet their needs.“
