Preparing for your session. A quick guide.

"Rule #1 : Have fun!"

Let the fun begin! Cheers to the first step to creating the most amazing photographs. The most powerful images are created by how comfortable and confident you will feel in front of the camera. Choosing the proper wardrobe and accessories plays a part of how you will feel the day of your shoot. Here’s the nitty gritty.

What to wear to your session.

The more comfortable the better! Wear loose clothing to help avoid clothes lines in the photographs. Do your favorite moisturizing routine before the shoot. This helps keep a beautiful even skin. Please, please, please remove your hairband from your wrist at least a few hours before your session. Once you arrive, you will have access to a private room to change into the items your brought.

What to bring.

Lingerie with interest

Corsets, bodysuits, thigh highs, garter belts, extra lacy lingerie, and fishnets as a general rule have more detail and come out looking incredible, but some of the bras that have come out recently have been very well executed so grab the items you want! Lacy details typically photograph well but it is about what best defines YOU. I photograph in Black and White so the color is entirely your choice. Keep in mind white or brighter pieces will add contrast but dark colors or black works fantastic as well.

Preparing well in advance (2-3 weeks) is usually best for this step as stores may not have the item or size you want in stock and ordering it can take some time.

Bottom line : love the way you feel in it!

Here’s a few ideas of where to look :

Heels

Although they might not appear in every shot heels help tone up the thighs and the body. The idea behind it is that pointing your toes flexes and relaxes the right muscles to shape the body in a way that photographs best. There is no ‘right’ pair that will work best although I usually recommend 6 inch heels. You will most likely only be wearing them for standing poses so there is no need for anything out of the ordinary, unless you’ve been looking for an excuse to buy a new pair of Louboutins in which case you absolutely NEED them for the session!

These may be worth the detour also :

Jewelry and accessories.

I like to focus the attention on details and texture, and while jewellery and accessories can add so much to a photograph, If you plan on bringing accessories try to keep them simple and elegant to keep with the style of the images and the focus on you. Earrings and necklaces will be the most noticeable pieces but I'm open to ideas.

Robe

There may be some down time during the shoot while I show you images, need to adjust lights, or you simply need a quick break. It is good to have a robe on hand for you to cover up during those times but if you find one that you love, bring it with you, it will make for some great images.

Hair and Make-up

Wavy hair photographs really well, and brings great highlights and volume to the images but is not a necessity. Every one's hair is different and you may want to change it up during the session so bring a curler and / or straightener with you for more options. Also BYOB (bring your own brush) stray hair is sometimes hard to remove during editing.

Keep make up as natural as possible. If you choose to wear lipstick please opt for a matte finish (gloss adds unnecessary highlights).

To pasty or not to pasty?

Some lingerie pieces may reveal more than you want to show. If you feel more comfortable wearing pasties in front of the camera please do. While they may be slightly noticeable in the final images, your level of confidence and comfort is what matters and what will reflect in the photographs. If you opt in, then please buy skin tone, round ones. Sparkle and odd shapes will attract more attention than they should.

The studio rules

Just a few guidelines for a better time :

  • No kids.
  • Do not drink and drive.

Let's make some magic!
