Is solar right for you?
Solar energy has become increasingly popular in recent years, and members of Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) have two main options: Cooperative Solar or rooftop solar.
Cooperative Solar, offered by CGEMC in partnership with Green Power EMC, allows members to purchase solar blocks of energy from a solar energy facility. By doing so, members receive a credit on their monthly bill for the kilowatt-hours generated by those blocks.
Cooperative Solar is a low-cost option especially beneficial for renters and homeowners who cannot install solar equipment. Additionally, Cooperative Solar eliminates the responsibility of maintenance and repairs.
While Cooperative Solar provides general advantages, rooftop solar allows for customization and personalized energy solutions. CGEMC can help members choose the right size rooftop solar installation for their needs, goals, and financial objectives.
The Rooftop Solar Calculator on our website allows members to estimate their solar generation potential, ongoing utility costs, and payback period for a rooftop solar system. Members may also qualify for incentives after installing solar panels. To make an informed decision, click the Energy Solutions tab online at www.cgemc.com for helpful tools and tips.
2024 Residential Rebates
Is it time for an upgrade? Save energy and money with CGEMC's 2024 rebates!
Nearly half of energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Upgrading an outdated or aging system can save you money. If your unit is more than 10 years old and needs frequent repairs, it may be time to replace it.
Water heaters use more energy than your refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher, and dryer combined. Upgrading your water heater can save you hundreds of dollars yearly on energy costs. Visit www.cgemc.com for details.
*A load management switch must be installed on qualifying equipment by a Central Georgia EMC employee before the rebate can be processed. The load management switch must remain on equipment and in operating status as long as Central Georgia EMC has a load management program. Limit one (1) qualifying heat pump and/or one (1) qualifying water heater rebate per member/household. Heat pump and/or water heater must have been installed on or after January 1, 2024.

We Are Green-E Certified
Central Georgia EMC remains committed to reducing our carbon footprint and advancing toward a more environmentally sustainable future. We are proud to have earned Green-e Energy Certification from the Center for Resource Solutions, ensuring the highest standards in renewable energy. Through collaboration with our clean energy partner, Green Power EMC, we offer two renewable energy solutions aimed at promoting cleaner energy alternatives.
Our Cooperative Solar program enables customers to leverage the power of the sun without the hassle of panel ownership. For just $19 per month, individuals can add a 1 kW block of solar generation to their energy portfolio. To learn more about this initiative, visit www.cgemc.com/cooperative-solar.
Additionally, customers can augment their green energy mix by opting for biomass energy. This innovative solution transforms waste into energy, while also mitigating the release of hazardous methane gas into the atmosphere. CGEMC offers 150 kWh blocks of biomass energy at a cost of only $4.50 a month. For more information, please visit www.cgemc.com.
