WOW! What a great start to the school year! It has also been great to see all students wearing their school uniform and hats. We all look very proud and part of a great school. Most importantly every student has been coming to school ready to learn and have been engaged in lessons.
Harmony Day is Friday 21st March, students and staff will work together and celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Students are encouraged to wear orange.
Don’t forget to get your bike out this week to check your tyres so it is ready for Ride 2 School Day on Friday 21st March. We would love to see some parents/carers and community members riding their bikes too! See the map below if you would like to join us on a ride to school.
Congratulations to Ben Walters who has made it to State Swimming. Ben swam a fantastic race at the Regional Swimming Carnival and came third. Ben will compete at State Swimming at the end of the term at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre.
Congratulations to Zaine Taylor, Tom Sharp, Delilah Papamau, Bridie Hinton, Archie Lovegrove, Leighton Reid and Evelyn Papamau who participated in the Maitland Zone Rugby League Trials. Well done to Tom, Archie & Delilah who were selected to play at the Hunter Regional Trials.

EARLY STAGE 1 & STAGE 1 NEWS

Wow, this term has flown by! In English, we've been focusing on phonemes and graphemes, using these skills to segment and blend sounds to form and write words. In Mathematics, we have been exploring 2-Dimensional shapes, including triangles, squares, rectangles and circles, while learning to identify their key features. Our History lessons have been centered around family trees, with students creating their own using symbolic representations. In PDHPE, we've been discussing the importance of kindness and what it means to be a good friend.
1L with Mrs Long
We have certainly hit the ground running. The class of 1L are so busy that our days are just flying by. In English we are reviewing our sounds, increasing our vocabulary, learning about morphology and learning to write some great orientations by using onomatopoeia and similes. In Mathematics we are learning to add by putting the big number in our head, the small number on our fingers and counting on. Ask your child to show you. Last Friday was our first day at sport rotations and Mrs Long is already eyeing potential cricket players. As we approach Autumn don't forget to pack a jumper and a raincoat, you never know what our weather is going to do!!
1G with Miss gregory
The term is flying by quickly! In English, 1G have been learning about grammar techniques and how to use them to make their writing more engaging. In Mathematics, students have been learning about doubles and thoroughly enjoy singing their song to help them memorise it. We have also been looking at food and fibre and what food comes from plants and animals. We have also taken a step back into the 1900's to learn about daily routines, games and clothing that were worn. 1G can't wait to keep exploring the 1900's and the impact it has on today's society.

IN have had an amazing start to the 2025 school year! In English we have been working on improving our writing skills by learning and implementing grammar skills to create sizzling starts to our stories. In Mathematics, 1N have been working on learning our doubles. We have also been taking a step back into the past and exploring the life of a child in the 1900's in History. During Science we have been looking at how the animals and plants within a farm are used for food and fibre. Keep up the amazing work 1N!

Over the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of teaching and observing in every classroom. It has been absolutely amazing to see the hard work all the students are putting in. If I haven't seen you in your classroom yet, don't worry, I'm sure I'll pop in at some point!

dhurrumiri room with Mrs allison
Dhurrumiri have been busy during English learning and practising phonemes (letter-sounds) and graphemes (letters). We are trying really hard to write our graphemes correctly and neatly. During Mathematics we work in two groups. The younger students have been strengthening their knowledge on numbers 0 to 10, while the older students have been focusing on Doubles, Addition and Subtraction. Friday's we love our cooking program and are trying lots of breakfast recipes this term. Please ask us what we've been making and what our favourites have been so far!
barrangga room with Miss Drayton
Week 8 is quickly upon us! During English in Barrangga we are close to finishing our second novel study for the term, The Twits. Students are writing their second imaginative writing piece with amazing sizzling starts. In Mathematics, Barrangga has been exploring fact families and place value. We have been demonstrating our expertise in using additive strategies when faced with worded problems. We have also been exploring our emotions and strategies we can use to help us regulate. In History, we are learning about the Worimi people and their connection to their country via language and culture. We will be finishing our first visual art piece: abstract art to really brighten up the classroom soon! We have all been showing Dungog Public School's PBL value 'Personal Best' by trying our absolute best with all of our learning!
STAGE 2 & STAGE 3 NEWS
2M with Miss Maytom
Week 8 can you believe it? 8 beautiful weeks of learning and getting to know each other and it has been amazing watching 2M grow and work together as a team. In English we have been deconstructing our novel study 'The Wild Robot' and connecting with characters. Together we have been building our own stories from sizzling starts to complications, it's great to watch their imaginations run wild! Mathematics has allowed 2M to investigate place value and identify number bonds with lots of practice in a variety of methods. As we progress through the term I have enjoyed watching 2M collaborate with 2V for sport on Fridays with lots of big smiles on their faces. In History we have been learning about traditional places for the Local Worimi People and the importance of connection to Country. Visual Arts has been a favourite among our class. We have been looking in depth at abstract art and using lines, shapes and colour to create our own. I'm so proud of the effort 2M put in each and every day, coming to school following expectations and learning together. Their enthusiasm and positive mindset makes coming to school and learning each day truly enjoyable.
2V with Mrs middlebrook

Week 8 is here! How quickly the first term is flying by! Some of our students have begun their NAPLAN last week, as they are completing assessments, we wanted to remind them that these assessments are just one part of their learning journey. NAPLAN is an opportunity to show what they know and how much they’ve grown—but it does not define their abilities, their creativity, or their potential. To all our students: Take a deep breath, do your best, and believe in yourself. Your hard work, resilience, and effort matter far more than any score. No assessment can measure your kindness, your determination, or your unique talents. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you✨✨.

Can you believe it’s already Week 8? Time is flying by! Over the past two weeks, 3B English has been diving deep into our novel study. Students have been actively reading at home for their Home Learning Task, coming to school well-prepared and eager to share their insights. It’s been fantastic to see their strong understanding of the novel’s themes and how they connect the story’s issues to their own real-life experiences. In Mathematics, we’ve been expanding our knowledge of triangles and quadrilaterals, and mastering the use of protractors to measure angles with precision. Keep up the great work, 3B!
Library/STEM with miss donnellY
The Premier's Reading Challenge has begun! It has been so great to see so many people wanting to participate and get involved this year. Please let me know if you have any questions and either Mrs Wilkinson or myself will get back to you with the answer. In the Library our new cafe area is always buzzing with students, big and small, they are all eager to engage in the area. Don't forget to visit the Library to borrow a book to go into the raffle to win a jar of Easter Eggs donated by Mrs Morgan. All you need to do is borrow a book and then you'll go into the draw. It will be drawn at our Easter celebrations at the end of the term. Happy Borrowing!
