Kia ora koutou, it has been wonderful seeing everyone arrive back into school with such big smiles on their faces. Some of these smiling faces were captured and shared on our Facebook page. If you aren't following our Facebook page, please check it out here.
For our new families, you can expect a school newsletter every second week throughout the year and we usually highlight a couple of aspects of school and share upcoming events. In the other weeks, you will hear from your child's teacher about what learning is happening in their class. This is shared through Hero, however as we need some time to amend our learning goals on Hero in line with the refreshed NZ curriculum, access to learning content, including class posts, is turned off until week 3.
HERO is our communication and reporting system. It is an online sharing platform with complementary smart app. The software is secure, easy to use and brings together all school-related information in one place.
With Hero, you have the ability to:
- read and comment on posts relating to your child’s learning
- view information on your child’s progress and goals,
- read and comment on school notices sent to the class or groups your child is part of
- respond to school notices such as surveys and trip permission requests
- view school term dates
- view a school calendar of events
- notify the school if your child is absent or late
- navigate to other school-related webpages
- customise your account by adding a profile image
- select how you wish to receive notifications
Scan the QR code to download the HERO app, or sign up online at https://hero.linc-ed.com/
This newsletter coming out in Week 1 is more information heavy with links to important places and highlighting the events of the next two terms.
We do have one exciting achievement to share though! At the end of last year we had two teams compete in the Sustainability Challenge at Wenderholm. It was a very wet day which caused issues with the apps recording the scores and meant that prizegiving didn't happen so they had time to work out results (and for everyone to get back to school and dry off!). We have just found out that our Nukumea Kauri team: Brooklyn, Ianke, Kaes and Zed, supported by Ansua; came 3rd in the Primary section - and 6th overall out of 101 Primary and Intermediate teams! This is an awesome achievement and we are very proud of you all.
