A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

The countdown to the long-awaited start to our 2025-26 school year is officially on, and the anticipation is electric! In just a few short weeks, nearly 5,000 amazing students will bring our classrooms to life with their curiosity, energy, and bright smiles. We can’t wait to welcome them back.

All summer long, our incredible district staff have been working behind the scenes to make sure everything is ready for a strong start. Our custodial and buildings & grounds teams have been polishing, repairing, and preparing every corner of our schools so they’re safe, welcoming, and sparkling. Meanwhile, our educators have been thoughtfully designing engaging lessons and activities to help every student learn, grow, and succeed. Their dedication is truly inspiring, and we are grateful for the pride they take in their work.

Whether you’ve been part of the MNS 1Warrior family for years or are new to our district, we are excited to start this school year alongside you. The success of our schools is built on the strength of our partnership, working together to help every student reach their full potential. Please know that we are grateful for your support and look forward to the countless opportunities ahead to collaborate on your student's success.

Enjoy these remaining days of summer and get ready to make this our best school year yet!

Volunteering and Chaperoning

If you are interested in volunteering at a school event or chaperoning for a field trip this year, please consider filling out our application to become a registered volunteer. If you wish to learn more about volunteering (and to apply), please visit our website. When approved, you will be approved for two years. If you are a current volunteer and are unsure about your status, you can check with Blake Wieting, Human Resources Coordinator, at blake.wieting@muskegonorway.org to confirm your status and expiration date.

Guest Teacher

As we begin the 2025-26 school year, we are once again looking for those that are interested in serving as a guest teacher within our district. Should you have a desire or believe you know someone that is looking for a wonderful, well-paying part-time employment opportunity, please APPLY HERE.

Food Service - Reimbursable Meals

At the elementary and middle school levels, each student is offered five lunch components (protein, grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk). Your child must take a minimum of three of the components (but may take all five), with one of those components being a ½ cup serving of fruit or vegetable, for the meal to qualify as a fully-reimbursable meal at the price point listed below. Whether your child is fully paid, free, or reduced, if they do not take the minimum as noted above, their lunch account will be charged for each item individually at the ala carte rate.

Ala carte foods are NOT covered under the free and reduced meal program. If you wish for your child(ren) to purchase ala carte items throughout the school year, you need to make sure there are adequate funds in the lunch account(s). Once a student’s account is in the negative, they are not allowed to purchase any ala carte items; this includes milk. Weekly reminders will be sent to families once your account has gone negative. Payments can be made to lunch accounts through Infinite Campus, under Lunch Payments.

If you would like your student(s) to be blocked from purchasing any ala carte items, you may contact the Food Service Office at 262-971-1790 x4530, or email Julie Monigold (julie.monigold@muskegonorway.org) and request the ala carte block be placed on your student(s) account.

2025-26 Lunch Prices:

  • Elementary Lunch: $2.65
  • MS Lunch 1: $3.05
  • MS Lunch 2: $3.60
  • MS Creation Station: $4.00
  • Milk Carton: $.55
  • MHS Ala carte meal rates as noted on the monthly menu will apply.
