Unified Under The Dome!

Texas State Capitol - Austin, TX

Athletes and Unified Champion Schools from all over the state joined together in Austin on March 5, 2025 at the Texas State Capitol to serve as advocates and visit with lawmakers and their staff about the importance of Special Olympics programs.

We specifically highlighted the importance of Unified Champion Schools as well as Healthy Athletes. You can see a video by clicking the button below that shows Special Olympics Texas being recognized on the Senate floor!

3X Unified State Basketball Champions

Judson Rockets - Judson HS

On Thursday 2-20 at the South Regional UIL Unified Basketball tournament, Judson HS beat Hanna HS 50-40 to qualify for the State Championship Tournament.

The State Championship Tournament was a 2-game series played at the University of Incarnate Word Convocation Center in San Antonio Texas. Tip-off for Game #1 was set for 5:30 pm & Game #2 was set for 7:15 pm. Other Unified teams that made it to the State Championship were the Huntsville Hornets and the Hendrickson Hawks.

Judson HS ended the night with their third consecutive State UIL Unified Basketball Championship win. Congratulations!

A Spotlight On UCS!

Each month, an athlete, coach, team, or group will continue to be highlighted for the incredible work that they do on and off the field for UCS and for Special Olympics Texas.

This month, we're shining the spotlight on Anthony Ruttenburg, M.Ed., the UCS Advisor at Plano East Senior High School!

Mr. Ruttenburg was selected as the Class Act Educator of the Month by the Dallas Cowboys and Reliant Energy for the work he does on and off the court for the special needs community.

Polar Plunge!

Schreiner University, an A20 SO College, participated in the A20 polar plunge at Boerne City Lake Park on Saturday, February 22 and raised over $2k!

East Central ISD cheerleaders came and performed for the schools and cheered on the athletes at the South Region basketball event!

Heritage Middle School supplied pictures of their Life Skills and Specialized Support class enjoying the event!
