The Class of 2024 Crosses the Stage
Fifty cadets received their high school diplomas in the 126th Commencement Ceremony at Fork Union Military Academy Friday, June 7. It was a beautiful morning for an outdoor event at the Stadium Field with the sun shining as brightly as the smiles on the faces of the watching families, friends and alumni.
The Commencement Address was delivered by Dr. Rob Pochek, the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Charlottesville, Virginia and has been a member of the Academy's Board of Trustees since June of 2021.
Tyler Manglicmot, the William E. Hatcher Valedictorian, gave an amazing speech, reminiscing on certain memories and thanking his family, staff and faculty that has been instrumental in his Fork Union success, and most importantly his fellow classmates, the Class of 2024.
Manglicmot has been a cadet at Fork Union Military Academy for six years, arriving in the seventh grade and finishing his high school career with the highest academic class rank as valedictorian with a GPA of 4.7. He is the son of Ferzen and Sarah Manglicmot of Palmyra, Virginia and will be attending the University of Virginia in the fall.
Manglicmot was also one of the 12 Honor Graduates in the Class of 2024. In order to earn the distinction of Honor Graduate, a cadet must have completed two years of study at the Academy between grades 9 to 12, must have completed his senior year with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and have met specific high standards in his conduct.

Christopher Acosta-Serrano
Christopher Acosta-Serrano is the son of Miguel Serrano and Christine Serrano of Woodbridge, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 10th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 3.509. Acosta-Serrano is considering enlistment in the United States Armed Forces.
Jaxon Brooks-Powell
Jaxon Brooks-Powell is the son of Laurie Brooks-Powell and Gregg Powell of Palmyra, Virginia. He has attended the Academy since the 7th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 3.967. Brooks-Powell will be attending Randolph-Macon College in the fall.
Benjamin Burtram
Benjamin Burtram is the son of Brian and Julie Burtram of Mebane, North Carolina. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 11th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.462. Burtram will be attending Virgina Tech in the fall where he will be a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Jacob Clodfelter
Jacob Clodfelter is the son of Marc and Grace Clodfelter of Mickleton, New Jersey. He has attended the Academy since the 9th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.229. Clodfelter will be attending the University of North Georgia in the fall where he will be a member of the Corps of Cadets.
George Gurney
George Gurney is the son of Sara and Kyle Gurney of Sandston, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 8th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.202. Gurney will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall.
Laith Haddad
Laith Haddad is the son of Taruik and Melissa Haddad of Midlothian, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 9th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.441. Haddad will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall.
Jared Mayuga
Jared Mayuga is the son of John and Catherine Mayuga of Vienna, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 11th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 3.824. Mayuga will be attending Virginia Tech in the Fall where he will be a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Everett Mitchell
Everett Mitchell is the son of Allison and Case Mitchell of Barboursville, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 9th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.136. Mitchell will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall where he will be a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Jaydn Pieron
Jaydn is the son of Tyler and Claire Pieron of Palmyra, Virginia. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 10th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 4.098. Pieron will be attending James Madison University in the fall.
Dylan Rwagasana
Dylan Rwagasana is the son of Willy Rwagasana and Chantal Nduwayo of Kigali, Rwanda. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 11th grade and has a cumulative GPA of 3.612. Rwagasana will be attending Drexel University in the fall.
Ethan Schroyer
Ethan Schroyer is the son of Sophie Schroyer and Jason Schroyer of North East, Maryland. He has been in attendance at the Academy since the 9th grade and served as this year’s Battalion Commander. He has a cumulative GPA of 4.655 and will be attending Yale University in the fall.
All Fork Union Military Academy graduating seniors will have the opportunity to continue their education in college next fall as the Class of 2024 achieved the Academy’s annual goal of 100-percent college acceptance, receiving 5.7 million dollars in merit and athletic scholarships.
Fork Union Honors Seniors with Awards Ceremony
Fork Union Military Academy celebrated its 50 seniors with its annual Senior BBQ and Senior Awards ceremony the evening prior to the 2024 Commencement ceremony on Thursday evening in the Wicker Chapel.
Twenty-four awards were given out on Thursday evening in addition to announcing the 12 honor graduates, the Valedictorian, and the Salutatorian. At the ceremony, the 2024 Salutatorian Ethan Schroyer delivered his Salutatorian Address.
Schroyer, the son of Sophie and Jason Schroyer of North East, Maryland, has attended the Academy since the ninth grade and has served as this year's Battalion Commander. He has a cumulative GPA of 4.655 and will be attending Yale University this fall.
Following Schroyer's wonderful speech, the senior awards were announced.

Recognized as an academic scholar, must be a leader among his peers, and outstanding young citizen.

Awarded to the best overall band member.

Awarded to a senior who pursues excellence in track and field and places the team above his own accolades.

Awarded to the captain or co-captain of a prep athletic team with the highest-grade point average.

Awarded to the best all-around baseball player.

Awarded to the best all around athlete who has been in attendance at the Academy for at least two years.

Awarded to a senior who exemplifies the characteristics of Charles Rogers.

Awarded to the senior who maintains outstanding leadership the entire year.
General Douglas MacArthur Award:

Awarded to the senior who best embodies three principles of General MacArthur: honor, duty, and country.
COL A. Duane Fender Award:

Awarded to a cadet who has shown individual development throughout his time at the Academy.
Reserve Officer's Association Award:
Jaydn Pieron
Awarded to the cadet that attended the Academy for at least three years and has good academic standing and leadership.
The Minuteman Award:

Awarded who best exemplifies respect of the military, recognizes traits of honesty and high academic achievement by the Thomas Jefferson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.
I.A. Howell Best All Around Cadet Award:

Awarded to the senior who is considered the best all-around cadet.
Fork Union Honors Undergraduates with Awards Ceremony
Fork Union Military Academy celebrated its undergraduates with its annual Undergraduate Awards ceremony Wednesday evening in the Wicker Chapel.
Twenty awards were given out along with several scholarships and special presentations in addition to announcing Dean’s List and President’s List recipients.

Fork Union Celebrates 7th Graders with Promotion Ceremony
Wednesday morning, Fork Union Military Academy celebrated its 12 seventh graders promoted to the eighth-grade One-Subject Plan at the Wicker Chapel before their summer departure.
The ceremony featured a congratulatory address from Academic Dean COL Mike Goad, a piano performance of ‘FUMA Men Are We’ by Music Director ETN1(SS) John Warren, the presentation of certificates, and a farewell speech from President CAPT Mark Black.
