Colmore Junior School

Spring term week: 32

Highlights of the week

We have some incredibly exciting sports news to share this week! A massive congratulations to both our girls' and boys' football teams, who have both successfully reached the final of the HMS Shield. This is a highly prestigious competition in children's school football, and having bothteams make it to the grand final is an outstanding achievement for our school. The dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship shown by our players throughout the tournament has been exemplary. We are immensely proud of every single one of them. Please join me in wishing both squads the very best of luck in their upcoming finals this afternoon—bring it home!

It has been another fantastic week of learning and creativity here at school. Our Year 5 students had a great time working alongside the brilliant comic book artist, Kev F, unlocking their inner storytellers and illustrators. In addition, our Year 4 pupils experienced a truly memorable history lesson as Professor McGinty brought the ancient world of the Egyptians to life with his captivating presentation. It is always a joy to see our curriculum come alive through such inspiring visitors. As we head into the half-term break, the weather forecast is looking beautifully bright. I hope you all manage to get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and make the most of the weekend heatwave. Have a wonderful, restful half-term break with your families, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for the final stretch of the school year.

Mr Gale

Year 3 have been working hard on their singing this half term and were able to put together this wonderful performance of singing and poetry to present to their parents.

Our friend, Professor McGinty, joined the year 4 classes to carry out his ancient Egyptian workshops. They found out all about what everyday life was like for different groups of people in Egypt as well as studying some of the artefacts.

Mr Bignot has been working hard come rain or shine this last half term. Here are some of his ‘Personal Best’ children along with tennis and football stars! 🌟
3A have taken part in Forest School activities this week with Mr Hughes. They created these lovely little wooden tokens, created dens and had a really good look at the plants in the area.

Comic book artist, Kev Sutherland, joined Year 5 to lead comic book workshops with them. They created their own comic characters and put them together in to class comics.

Ecokids had a brilliant time working with Suze from OurScene CIC on Tuesday. They filled our new planter with a range of colourful plants and flowers to attract pollinators to our grounds. Make sure you have a look - it’s by the Colmore Road entrance.

3O have been making the most of the sunshine by taking the time to read outside this afternoon.

The newsletters are also accessible on the news section of our school website.
