Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered
We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. We raise our hands to the sky that covers the Aboriginal land. We touch the ground in the care of the Aboriginal land. We place our hands on our hearts in love of the Aboriginal land.

3 / 4 Camp
Our 3 / 4 students head off to Dorroughby Education Centre on Thursday and Friday this week. They will have a great time doing all things science.
Book Parade
Start designing those costumes. This year's book parade will be held on Thursday, 21 August.
Movie Night
The P & C will be hosting a Movie Night on Wednesday, 3 September. This year, we would love you to bring along a salad, plates and cutlery. The P & C will supply the sausages (Meat and Veg) and all the movie snacks (popcorn, hot chocolate and ice creams). This is to say a huge thanks for all of your support for The Winter Festival. We will also be stealing a few minutes of your time to hold a planning meeting for Summer in The Pocket! Can't wait to see you all there.
School Maintenance
The school assets team has been working over time. We have our sewage and water check being completed in the coming weeks, our trees were trimmed of deadwood last week and we have had a new Orica UV Water Filter installed to feed the water to our demountable and admin building.
Sport
Headlands District Athletics Carnival
Is was great to see our school students and the wider VoSS students compete at the Headlands Athletics Carnival last week. They were amazing as they ran, jumped and discussed their way through the day. Congratulations to Skye, Brooklyn, Marlow and Owen for making it to the next round.
Snow Trip
We are looking forward to the Snow Excursion this term. We have just two weeks to go. Be sure to familiarise yourself with the packing list to make sure you have everything you need.

P & C News
NEXT MEETING: our next Community meeting will be 3rd September the hour before movie night starts - this will be your opportunity to get involved with our annual Summer in the Pocket fun afternoon planning session.
NEWS: Its been a fun fortnight in the P&C. We had our term Community Body meeting - thank you so much to the parents who could make it. We made a lot of progress towards making the P&C more accessible and inclusive. If you'd like a copy of the meeting notes (which are extensive) and/or to join up please email our brand new email address thepocketschool.community@gmail.com and we'll send you the details asap (emails are monitored weekly). Our lemonade and cookie stand at school pickup on Friday afternoon gave you access to join too and we were pleased to welcome all the new and returning members and email list recipients. (Next time we might do hot chocolate and cookies as the weather keeps playing games :) The members email list will become important over time as an extension of meetings and P&C matters and decisions so please do consider joining up to have your say in shaping your school community.
We look forward to some fun planning the summer festival and seeing you for the ever-popular Pocket School movie night!
Regards,
The Pocket P&C
