George Fisher Scholar-Athlete Award
The George Fisher Scholar-Athlete Award celebrates the senior Lute student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. This year the award was won by swimming senior Jessica Ordaz and soccer senior Alex White.
Newcomer of the Year Award
Newcomer of the Year celebrates the Lutes that have hit the ground running and made an immediate impact for their team in their first year on campus. This year's winners were Rachael Rhinehart from softball and Alvin Kamau from soccer.
Laurie Turner Leadership Award
The award is named after former Lute athletic director Laurie Turner who helmed the PLU athletic department from 2005 to 2020. This year's winners was softball's Molly House.
Distinguished Alumnus Award
Karen Weekly won this year's Distinguished Alumnus in Sport Award. Weekly played both softball and basketball at PLU, earning induction into the PLU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. After graduating from PLU, Weekly served as an assistant coach for the Lute softball team before moving to the Division I level where as a Head Coach at both Tennessee and Chattanooga has won over 1,300 games.
Frosty Westering Inspiration Award
The Frosty Westering Lute Inspiration Award is presented on a non-annual basis to PLU individuals who, through their action and involvement, inspires athletes, coaches, and the campus community. The award is named after legendary Lute football coach Frosty Westering who coached at PLU from 1972 to 2003 and won four national titles. This year's winner was baseball's Anthony Adams.
Lutes Impact Award
The LUTES Impact Award was created in 2022 to recognize a student-athletes that embody the spirit of the PLU Athletics Department, living out the core values of leadership, unity, teamwork, excellence, and service. This individual is a star on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. This year's winner was Molly House, the President of SAAC and a member of softball team.
Unsung Lute Award
The Unsung Lute Award is presented to a student-athlete who has positively influenced their program from behind the scenes with a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and a commitment to excellence. This year's winner is Georgina Soliai from track & field.
Lute Service Award
The Lute Service Award is given to an individual who contributes to the PLU athletic program in special ways. This year's winner is softball's Molly House.
Athlete of the Year Award
This year's Athlete of the Year winners were Hannah Cecil from soccer and Grady Lemma from track & field. Cecil was the NWC Offensive Player of the Year this fall, helping the Lutes win the conference title while Lemma won the NWC title in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
Sara Officer Career Impact Award
Named after the PLU Hall of Fame coach and administrator Sara Officer, the award is given to a senior who has made an impact on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Volleyball's Halle Hetzler wins the award after winning NWC Libero of the Year three times and helping the Lutes win the NWC regular season and tournament title this fall. Hetzler is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma honors society and had graphic design internships in the local community.
Dr. David Olson Career Impact Award
Named after the PLU Hall of Fame athletic director Dr. David Olson, the award is given to a senior who has made an impact on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Cross country and track & field's Ryan Stracke wins the honor after a decorated career that included winning NWC titles in both sports and making trips to the NCAA Championships in both cross country and track & field.
