CONGRATULATIONS!

Psychiatry PGY3 resident, Dr. Brittany Taylor was accepted into the American Psychiatric Association Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association Resident Fellowship Program, which aims to develop trainees’ leadership skills in psychiatry by advancing their understanding of mental health inequities.

Needlestick and Blood Borne Pathogen Protocol Now 4 easy steps

  1. Take care of yourself, wash out eyes, etc.
  2. Call Koko Crawford, OU Tulsa Risk Manager at (918) 660-3628
  3. Do not let the patient leave, need to draw source blood
  4. Koko will walk you through the process, including forms to complete
  5. If you are in the hospital setting then follow that hospital's protocol, usually begins with the charge nurse. Our protocol aligns with our hospitals.

Residency Highlights at OU Tulsa

Members of the Psychiatry department participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk in September at Jenks Riverwalk. This inspiring community event raises awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Residency Program Coordinator News

Mary Grace Moser

Welcome, Mary Grace Moser to the Department of Surgery. Mary Grace is the new residency program coordinator and comes to us from the OU-Norman campus, where she worked in the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work’s Simulation Department, supporting graduate students and OKDHS case workers by designing and facilitating training scenarios for both educational and professional development. Mary Grace shares that “she loves to help people who like to help people”.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Emergency Medicine Coordinator, Melisa Garner for passing her TAGME (Training Administrator of Graduate Medical Education) certification!

GME Professionals Day was Friday, August 15th. We celebrated our wonderful residency and fellowship coordinators by taking them to The Pioneer Woman in Pawhuska, OK. We toured the Lodge where Ree Drummond films her cooking show and ate in the restaurant inside The Mercantile. It was a great day!

Counseling Services

When pursuing a professional career, residents can sometimes feel overwhelmed with academic and training program demands, personal responsibilities, social conflicts, and emotional distress. All OU residents have access to on site counseling services with counselor Taylor Collins, LPC. This service is free of charge and completely confidential. You may schedule an appointment directly at 918-660-3109, email TulsaCounseling@ou.edu. or drop by room 1C76 in the OU-Tulsa Student Affairs lounge. Your program provides useful tools and resources that can help make the most out of your day or guide you through a difficult time. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services through Magellan Health and Family & Children's Services are other options as employees at OU Tulsa.
