Municipal arboriculture is the practice of managing trees in urban environments
Overseen by local government and municipalities. It involves the care, preservation, and management of trees in public spaces like streets, parks, and trails to ensure their health, safety, and aesthetic value while balancing urban development needs.
For development permits and infrastructure projects, such as road widening, municipal arboriculture assesses and mitigates impacts on trees.
Key practices include:
- Tree Assessment and Inventory: Evaluating the health, species, size, and value of trees that may be affected by a project.
- Tree Protection Plans: Developing strategies to preserve trees during construction, to minimize damage.
- Permitting and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with local tree protection bylaws or ordinances, including permits for tree removal or measures such as replanting.
- Tree Removal and Replacement: When tree removal is unavoidable, we can oversee safe removal and replacement planting to maintain urban canopy cover.
- Risk Management: Identifying and addressing potential hazards posed by trees, such as structural instability, to ensure public safety during and after projects.
We look forward to discussing your project!
