FROM THE Principal’s Desk

"There are no exceptions to the rule that everybody likes to be an exception to the rule." — Charles Osgood

Dear Bluejay Family,

The quote above is definitely thought-provoking. Indeed, it is human nature to desire to stand out, to be special, to be the exception. Being exceptional can be a good thing. However, there are certain aspects of our school community where adherence to rules and guidelines is crucial for the smooth functioning of our daily operations.

Parking during car line is one such area. We kindly remind all parents to adhere to the designated parking zones during drop-off and pick-up times. The lots in front of the PLC and administration building are not to be used for "walkers." Not only does this ensure the safety of all students and staff, but it also helps to maintain the efficiency of the car line, minimizing delays and disruptions.

Another area where consistency is paramount is in attendance. Tardiness and absenteeism not only disrupt the flow of the classroom but also affect the overall learning experience for individual students. Please be reminded that gates close with the final admission bell at 7:55 am. Let's work together in this final quarter of the school year to ensure that our children arrive promptly and ready to engage in their studies each day.

Last, but not least, I urge you to review the dates outlined in the recently released 24-25 calendar (see button above) in planning your family vacations. By aligning our schedules with the school calendar, we can minimize the disruption to our children's education and the school environment.

As always, I am grateful for your ongoing support and cooperation in upholding the standards and values of our school community. Together, we can ensure that every child receives the education and support they need to thrive.

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

Training will be provided.

Please direct your questions to Marsha at mgranger@scsbluejays.org or call 337-837-1864, ext. 222. Thank you for blessing St. Cecilia with the gift of your beautiful children!

Please note that our standardized testing will take place during the week of April 15. Grades 6-8 will be testing on Monday and Tuesday, while grades 3-5 will be testing on Wednesday and Thursday. It is vital that students are in attendance on these days. Please make sure to review the calendar to have a good feel for the last two months of school. FINISH STRONG BLUEJAYS!

Dear Bluejay Family,

The week prior to the Easter break saw our track, tennis, and golf teams in action. On Monday, the track team was at Catholic High in New Iberia for its first meet of the year. The same day saw the tennis team take on OMP in Broussard at the Sports Complex. The golf team took to the road and played against Rayne Catholic and Carencro Catholic at Cajun Pines Golf Club.

The track meet was the first meet ever for a lot of our Bluejays. There were some nerves, but the kids did very well. Many did events that they had never done before. They surprised even themselves. The beauty of the first meet is that everyone of our Bluejays had a personal record! During the break, there was a great practice as we look to get back on the track and field on Thursday. This is the largest track team ever fielded at St. Cecilia. The coaches and parents have been extremely supportive toward the kids and the results show. Please see below the attached spreadsheets for the results for the first meet.

Saint Cecilia tennis season started with strong right out of the gates for our first match of the season. Out of 11 different matches against OMP, our SCS team finished 10-1. It was an impressive and outstanding performance. The team is led by a veteran group of 11 eighth graders that are all in their 4th year of tennis at St. Cecilia. The #1 Boys court, made up of Seth Gallagher and Nicholas Soprano, led the boys to a 6-0 victory. The #1 girls court, consisting of veterans, Ahna Dubroc and Heidi Derge grinded out an impressive 6-2 victory. Henry Lorio, Anna Luneau, Walker Montz, Landon Bertrand, Lucas Bourgeois, and Jorja Ray were other outstanding veteran winners on the day.

The golf team, much like the track team, is the largest that we have fielded at St. Cecilia. This year’s squad has talent from top to bottom. While some are beginners, they are showing promise even in the onset. The scores for the first match show that the kids are a solid team and will continue to get better and compete each week. A total of 11 points separate our golfers. This is the closest variance this early in the season. The Bluejay golfers enjoyed a fun practice at Top Golf during the break. Special thanks to the coaches for giving them this opportunity.

Here are the scores from today’s match at Cajun Pine Golf course in Branch.

  1. Hunter Fontenot-61
  2. Lily Marceaux-63
  3. Everett Plauche-63
  4. Reed Wyatt-64
  5. Sloan Girouard-65
  6. Jack Bergeron-66
  7. Kolston Carter-72

In an effort to improve our athletic programs at St. Cecilia, it was felt that a comprehensive athletic handbook was needed. This handbook affects players, coaches, parents, and fans. Parent/guardian completion of this form and adherence to the rules and regulations outlined in the handbook are requirements for participation in athletic programs at St. Cecilia School. The link below will take you to the handbook. It is also on the school website for reference as well. Thank you all for your continued support of SCS Athletics.

For those that have already completed the acknowledgement form, and want to refresh themselves on the rules and regulations, please follow the link below.

****We are so proud of our SCS 7/8th Grade football, 5th Grade White and 7th Grade volleyball teams' fantastic accomplishments this fall. We can now officially celebrate our championships in volleyball and football by purchasing apparel from Action Specialties. These are school approved and can be worn as part of the school uniform. There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!

***Thank you for your support of SCS Athletics! To keep up with the schedule for our Bluejays, please follow the link below. Admission into League games are $6 for adults and $1 for kids. SCS staff and students are admitted free.

Have a blessed day,
