Grand Haven Homecoming Football Game 2023

Grand Haven Varsity Football stands at the ready for the beginning of the 2023 Homecoming Game. Their opponents are the Jenison Wildcats.
A crowded student section and an enthusiastic dance team. The stands are full of energy.
Cheer teams from the lower grades join the high school dance team on the track for a performance. The rows of dancers covered the width of the home stands.
Spectators bring out colorful assortments of umbrellas as the rain reemerges. Cloudy skies became rainy ones but the fans remained dry.
Grey skies above Gene Rothi Field but the stadium lights give plenty of visibility. Jenison leads in the first quarter 6-8.
The Buccaneers huddle to determine their next play. Jenison prepares for another quarter against Grand Haven.
The Bucs line up for the last play of the first half. Grand Haven leads 12-10.
Color guard continues their halftime performance after Emmalee Bakker's flag solo. Roman Smith and Emily Smith duet on trumpet.
Lightning strikes and the stands are cleared due to safety concerns. Marching band exits to the music wing via the soccer field.
Spectators congregate in the Field House. Homecoming court announcments are scheduled to take place inside due to weather.
Drum Majors Mitchell Koetsier and Rachel Laws conduct the marching band's indoor halftime show. Due to space constraints, the band assembled into standard concert arcs.
Seniors Jack Kowalski and Kenza Wolff are announced at Homecoming King and Queen. The Senior King Cort is comprised of Jacob Baldus, Quentin Edwards, Braydon Garland and Seth Norder. Senior Queen Court consisted of Nora Jacobson, Abigail Osterbaan, Laurel Tolliver and Olivia Winkler.
As the third quarter gets underway following the lightning delays, the Bucs stand on the sideline to support their teammates. Although not in play, they remain focused on the field in front of them.
The Bucs get in formation while Jenison discusses their next play. Jenison leads at the end of the third quarter 12-16.
Lightning strikes again and the game is again postponed. The Bucs run off the field to the team room to get out of the weather.
Players recount the play before with big body language. They then ready themselves for the game to continue.

The team congratulates each other as they reset and focus into the next play. The Bucs were defeated 12-16 in a great game.
