2024 annual meeting

On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (CGEMC) held its 87th Annual Meeting. After more than 950 members completed the registration process, the business meeting started at 10 a.m.

The meeting was led by Arthur White, Chairman of the Board, who began with an invocation and led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. A highlight of the morning’s program was a performance of the national anthem by Jaymie Richardson, a three-time Reading Bowl champion and member of the Beta Club at Dutchtown Middle School.

Following the performance, Chairman White introduced the Board of Directors, legal counsel, and President/CEO of CGEMC. After announcing the closure of registration and voting, he passed the meeting to CGEMC President/CEO George L. Weaver.

Mr. Weaver delivered a comprehensive report on the cooperative’s activities and achievements over the past year. The meeting then transitioned to Attorney Steve Minor, who provided updates on board elections.

Mr. Minor announced that Rod Mangham, representing Butts County, and Phillip B. Ham, representing Monroe and Bibb Counties, were reelected to the Board of Directors for another three-year term, having run unopposed. Two candidates qualified to represent the Spalding, Lamar, and Pike Counties (Post 1) seat. Minor thanked both candidates for their interest in CGEMC.

In a concluding update, Mr. Minor announced the election of D.T. Hamil as the Director for Spalding, Lamar, and Pike Counties (Post 1) by majority vote. The Annual Meeting concluded with Chairman White expressing appreciation to all who attended and participated. The meeting was adjourned.

After the meeting, a prize drawing took place, including the names of all registered members. Congratulations to the following winners:

2024 Residential Rebates

Is it time for an upgrade? Save energy and money with CGEMC's 2024 rebates!

Nearly half of energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling. Upgrading an outdated or aging system can save you money. If your unit is more than 10 years old and needs frequent repairs, it may be time to replace it.

Water heaters use more energy than your refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher, and dryer combined. Upgrading your water heater can save you hundreds of dollars yearly on energy costs. Visit www.cgemc.com for details.

*A load management switch must be installed on qualifying equipment by a Central Georgia EMC employee before the rebate can be processed. The load management switch must remain on equipment and in operating status as long as Central Georgia EMC has a load management program. Limit one (1) qualifying heat pump and/or one (1) qualifying water heater rebate per member/household. Heat pump and/or water heater must have been installed on or after January 1, 2024.
