2023-2024 OHAA Student Awards

Thanks from Head Coach Scott Fellnermayr

The scholarship dollars from the Ooks Hockey Alumni Association provides men’s hockey student-athletes with financial aid that helps them focus on their studies while they play the sport they love. The men’s hockey team is very grateful to be able to award these scholarships to deserving students. This money is unprecedented in allowing us to provide competitive scholarship dollars that helps us recruit the best possible players. Thank you for the continued support and contribution to the success of the NAIT Men’s Hockey program and NAIT Athletics!

“I want to thank the OHAA for this scholarship. This money allows me to breathe easy and focus on my trade, Woodworking and Carpentry, as well as my hockey, without any stress of paying for my courses and rent costs. I am truly grateful for this support; it has allowed me to pursue my hockey goals while going to school, and in my financial situation, that wouldn’t be possible without the support of scholarship dollars like what you have provided for me.”

Bachelor of Business Administration

“I'm in the Bachelor of Business Administration program, with an emphasis in Marketing, and this financial help means the world to me. If it wasn’t for support, like yours, I would have to get a part-time job and it would take away from my academic success and my performance on the ice. This scholarship allows me to focus on the things that are important to me right now and set up my future. I’m truly grateful that you have chosen to support NAIT Hockey and I will continue to do my part to excel in the classroom and on the ice.”

Receiving the OHAA athletic award has been incredibly impactful. It has relieved financial stress, allowing me to focus wholeheartedly on my academic and athletic pursuits. Beyond the financial support, it has boosted my confidence and reaffirmed my dedication to achieving my goals.

I am deeply grateful to the OHAA whose generosity has made a significant difference in my student-athlete journey. Your support not only lightened my financial burden but also inspired me to strive for excellence both in the classroom and on the ice. Thank you for believing in me and investing in my future. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity.

Instrumentation Engineering Technology

I am one of the goaltenders for the men’s hockey team and I am currently in the Instrumentation Engineering Technology program. Receiving this scholarship has really made me appreciate all the hard work I have put into my studies through the years to get to this point. I have dreamed of this moment as a kid growing up for years and to finally see it paying off is really amazing. I would like to thank all parties involved in helping me making theses dreams a reality and could have never done it without you.

Message from Andy MacIver, Athletics and Recreation Manager

On behalf of the NAIT Athletics and Recreation Department, I’d like to thank the Ooks Hockey Alumni Association for your generous donation in support of our student-athletes. Your scholarship donation allows our student-athletes to dedicate their focus and energy to their studies and athletic pursuits. Without generous donations like yours, our student-athletes would struggle financially and would not be able to commit everything to their passion for sport and higher education. The impact is immense and we are incredibly grateful for your support of collegiate hockey in Alberta.
