Newsletter Ysgol Deiniol 19th July 2024

Hwyl Fawr Blywddyn 6 - Today marks the last day for our pupils in Year 6 as they embark on the next chapter of their education. They held a wonderful Leavers Assembly yesterday for their family members and today they are off to Laser Quest in Chester for a fun morning before heading back to school for pizza! They have been a wonderful class all the way through school and we will miss them dearly; they have been a credit to their families and to our school. We wish them lots of luck in their new schools.
Goodbye - Today is the last day for two of our team members. We bid a sad farewell to Mrs. Morris who has been teaching our Reception class this year. She has made a remarkable impact on the class and we will miss her immensely. Miss Jones has been with us for three years and her kind and caring nature is highly regarded in every class that she has worked in. We will miss them both but we wish them both all the very best of luck for the future.
Schools Essential Grant - The School Essentials Grant opened on 1 July. Children whose families are on lower incomes and qualify for certain benefits can apply for a grant of: £125 per learner £200 for learners entering year 7 (to help with increased costs associated with starting secondary school). All pupils from Reception to Year 6 are eligible to apply. Families are only entitled to claim once per child, per school year. By applying for this grant you are also helping our school as we get extra funding for every child who is accepted. So, I’d be very grateful if you could spread the word by sharing https://www.gov.wales/get-help-school-costs. Even if families don’t need the grant, registering as eligible will mean our school will still get additional funding.
Easyfundraising - When making purchases online please can you go through the 'easyfundraising' app as a small percentage of the transaction will be sent to the Friends of Deiniol. It doesn't cost you anything at all and most online retailers take part: Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Tui etc. Just download the app, choose Friends of Deiniol School Yard and then use the app to choose an online store to buy from. It's really simple to use and easy money for the school!
Recycled Clothes - Please keep bagging up and sending in any unwanted clothes to the school. It's really easy money for the Friends of Deiniol which is then sent back into school to help our children.
