Dear University Community
- When you’re next in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library, please take a moment to view a special memorial portrait of Dr. Pablo Arenaz, TAMIU’s sixth president, who passed away unexpectantly last October. The portrait is currently in the Helen Richter Watson Gallery and looks out over the Colonnade, one of Dr. Arenaz’s favorite campus areas, and where he often shared news of TAMIU accomplishments and initiatives.

- Let the “Quackdown” begin... Quack, quack... Our “Release the Quacken” event celebrating our historic Spring enrollment is returning to campus for its 2025 edition. Hint: It’s all it’s Quacked Up to be! Make sure you get in on the fun Wednesday, April 16 at the Acequia Fountain at 11 a.m.
- Wednesday is Undergraduate Research Day At TAMIU. Hear from select University Honors and Undergraduate Research Program participants on their research projects focused on healthy living, the impact of fungus on human health, A.I. integration in the workplace, and more! Refreshments available. WHTC Foyer, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
- Thursday brings the fifth offering of the TAMIU Border Voices Lecture Series featuring Dr. J Buentello Benavides. "Border Girls: Reading Laredo with J Buentello Benavides," will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Academic Innovation Center, room 127. It’s free and open to the public.
- Check out our live music and dance performances, as well as a student-themed art exhibit at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA). Schedule here.
- Friday is Reading Day and an Easter Holiday for students (no classes!). The University remains open till noon.

There’s no ducking the numbers… we made history this Spring 2025 with a historic enrollment – the largest EVER in the history of Texas A&M International University.
In celebration of this tremendous feat, we filled our Acequia Fountain with thousands of TAMIU-branded, sparkling silver rubber duckies! Join us Wednesday, April 16, 11 a.m. at the Breezeway to celebrate this special moment.

Forget ramen-fueled all-nighters—these TAMIU students are cooking up research that matters!
At Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), student research goes beyond the classroom—driven by curiosity and grounded in academic rigor, it tackles meaningful questions with impact beyond campus. To celebrate this spirit of discovery, TAMIU will host Undergraduate Research Day on Wednesday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m. in the Western Hemispheric Trade Center lobby.

Fifth Offering of TAMIU Border Voices Lecture Series April 17 Features Writer Dr. J Buentello Benavides
The fifth offering in Texas A&M International University's (TAMIU) Border Voices Lecture Series will feature a conversation with local writer Dr. J Buentello Benavides on challenges and stories that shape our shared realities in Laredo.
The lecture, "Border Girls: Reading Laredo with J Buentello Benavides," will be held Thursday, April 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Academic Innovation Center, room 127. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Reading Day and Easter Holiday Observance for Friday, April 18 (No Classes, University remains open)
Texas A&M International University will observe Reading Day and the Easter Holiday on Friday, April 18 with no classes scheduled for students. University offices will remain open and operational during the day. Happy Easter and Happy Reading!
