Congratulations to our newly elected 2026 Student Leaders!

We are excited to announce and congratulate our new student leaders for 2026. After a whole school election process, these outstanding students have been chosen by their peers and teachers to lead our school community.

These students have been recognised for their leadership potential, creativity, and diverse representation across various cohorts at BBHS. They will play a pivotal role in organising school events, mentoring younger students, and leading initiatives throughout the year.

We are confident that all our new student leaders will represent our school with pride and will work together to make next year a memorable and successful one.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead under their leadership!

Tournament of the Minds Success

Fostering collaborative problem solving and critical thinking

Congratulations to our talented students who competed in the Tournament of Minds (TOM) Regional Tournament on Sunday, 31 August. Our team performed exceptionally well and were awarded Runners Up in their division.

The feedback from the judges was overwhelmingly positive:

“This was a fantastic performance and a presentation of the highest standard! Your choice of music and creative movement set this presentation apart from the rest. It was original, engaging and seamlessly integrated real-world problems. Additionally, your performance comprehensively covered all criteria.

Tournament of Minds is an international program that challenges students to engage in creative problem-solving, teamwork, and innovative thinking through open-ended activities. It was inspiring to see our students demonstrate such collaboration, creativity, and enthusiasm on the day.

It was also fantastic to see the energy and excitement from local primary schools who joined the event. We look forward to welcoming these primary school students into the program when they move into our school from 2026 and beyond.

Well done Anya, Evie, Imogen, Zara, Indigo, Jasmine and Clem!

Mr Murray Cronin - Deputy Principal - Years 8, 10 and 12

Sport selections for Term 4

It's that time again! Years 7-10 Wednesday Sport Selections open on Monday!

The online selection portal opens on Monday 8 September, 8 pm

Term 4 Sports Selections will open at 8pm on Monday 8 September, at 8 pm.

The link to the Sports Selection Portal will be emailed to students at 9 am on Monday 8 September. The email will appear in their school email account, ready for access at 8 pm. Students are encouraged to check their email inbox before they leave school on Monday.

Students have received a lot of communication and reminders about this at school, but if they can't find the email in their school email account, please guide them to access the Sports Selections portal directly by pasting the following link into their browser: https://online.schoolbytes.education/sport/

NOTE: The link will not work until 8 pm. If your child logs into the portal early, they will need to refresh the page at 8 pm to access the live link.

Computers will be available at lunchtime in the Library next week if students cannot access a phone/computer/internet at home.

Sports selections will close on Wednesday 10 September at 3 pm. After this date, our office will send parents/carers a Sport confirmation email - including a payment and consent link - for you to complete.

From the P&C

The 'Spring Fling' Trivia Night was a great success!

A hearty thanks to all the parents and teachers who supported our Annual P&C Trivia Fundraiser at the Byron Golf Club this week.

Mandy Nolan, generously donated her time to host the evening and had us chuckling and chortling all night long. Congratulations to our winning table, raffle winners, major auction and games winners. We raised $4,400 that will go towards the Audio Visual equipment in the newly refurbed school hall.

A big shout out to Tom & Keelin from Bowerbird Dining and Events for our scrummy dinner.

The night wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible sponsors from the local community. Please jump onto Instagram and give them a like.

See you all next year!

The BBHS P&C

Calling for donations for our upcoming P&C raffle

Many thanks to the parents and businesses who supported our Trivia night on Wednesday. It was a great success, raising over $4,000 for the school. Don’t worry if you missed the event you can still get involved in our 2025 fundraising efforts.

We are seeking prizes, big or small, for our fundraising raffle, and we hope we can count on your generosity.

All donations will be acknowledged through the school’s contacts, social media, and the Byron Bay community.

This year our goal is to raise $15,000 to fund a much-needed audio-visual system for the recently renovated school hall. This will equip the hall with the technology it needs to better support assemblies, performances, presentations, and community events, making the most of the recent renovations.

If you can help, please let us know by end of term on Friday, 26 September.

For donations, questions, or suggestions, contact:

Thank you for supporting our students at Byron Bay High School.

From the Office

Students need to bring the correct workbooks and equipment to school every day

For students to be ready for learning, it's important that they bring the correct workbooks and equipment to school every day, including a calculator and writing tools like pens and pencils, and highlighters. This daily preparation makes sure they have all the necessary materials to fully participate in and benefit from their classes.

Being organised for their school day assists students to be prepared for learning and fosters self-reliance and responsibility.

You can find a list of the workbooks and essential materials for each Year group on our school website home page, in the 'School Years' tabs:

Available at the school office

Should your child need a new art book or calculator, these items can be purchased at the school office, at specially negotiated school discounted prices:

Calculators

  • Years 7-10 = CASIO fx-82 AU PLUS II - $40
  • Years 11-12 = Please inquire at the Maths Staffroom

Art diaries

  • A4 art diary - $5
  • A3 art diary - $15

Excursions and school events

Please check your email inbox regularly

To avoid your child missing out and being disappointed, please keep an eye on the 'due date' for your online consent and payments.

The due date is typically 2 days before the event takes place (some larger excursions and camps may close earlier). Due to the logistics of organising buses, staffing, medical requirements and rolls, unfortunately late consent and payments can not be accepted.

To enable your child to participate and not miss out please check your email inbox daily for emails from noreply@mail.schoolbytes.education.

We thank you for working with us as we strive to organise quality and exciting educational opportunities for our students.
