Austria September 2025

Mid-September is one of the best times to visit Austria. The weather is fantastic, and the tourist season is winding down. Vienna is well-connected and only a few hours away from places like Salzburg, Hallstatt, Munich, and even Budapest, making it an ideal starting point for a fantastic vacation.

The Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, one of Vienna’s many impressive landmarks, is a great place for students and academics. However, the Prunksaal, or showroom, is truly one of the most beautiful places imaginable.

The Museums Quartier is an ideal destination for art and history enthusiasts. The Leopold Museum houses some of the most renowned Austrian masters, including Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele.

Schloss Schönbrunn, an imperial palace located on the outskirts of Vienna, was the residence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria, affectionately known as Sissi. The gardens are fantastic and beautifully maintained.

Vienna, renowned for its vibrant cafe culture, boasts an iconic location called Cafe Central. With its beautiful interior, Cafe Central serves some of the city’s most delectable desserts. Just around the corner lies the Ferstel Passage, a continuation of Vienna’s splendor.

Schloss Belvedere, now a museum, is situated within walking distance of Vienna’s Central Station. The palace houses a rotating collection of Gustav Klimt’s works, and the gardens are open to the public.

Salzburg, an enchanting city about three hours by train from Vienna, is a great place to stay and explore nearby attractions like Hallstatt and Munich.

Schloss Mirabell in Salzburg is arguably one of the most beautiful gardens in the country. The palace is bursting with vibrant colors and is meticulously maintained. The stunning view of the fortress that overlooks the city, Festung Hohensalzburg, is simply breathtaking.

Hallstatt, a remote village in Austria, is one of the most beautiful in Europe, if not the world. The journey to Hallstatt involves multiple transfers through some of the most breathtaking landscapes imaginable. The dramatic arrival by boat is a must-see.

Munich, just two hours and fifteen minutes from Salzburg, hosted the inaugurating day of Oktoberfest. With the forecast of rain in the near future, the event was packed with eager participants, all dressed to the nines in Dirndls and Lederhosen, enjoying the incredible weather.

Festung Hohensalzburg offers one of the most breathtaking views of Salzburg from above. The dramatic FestungsBahn funicular ride is a must-try to reach the fortress, and the 360-degree panoramic view is simply priceless.

Arriving back in Vienna, a day trip to Budapest might seem excessive, but considering the smooth train ride and the beautiful weather, it was definitely worth it.

Budapest’s renowned New York Cafe is a place where splurging and indulgence is an absolute must. Its interior is often considered the most beautiful in the world, and the food is simply world-class. A fantastic finale to wonderful journey.
