NSW Small Schools Knockout Soccer Competition

Last week Mulbring soccer team went to Baddley park in hopes of qualifying for the next round in the small school’s knockout competition, we were full of confidence from our previous games as well as training very well during the week. Our first game was against Sommersby PS, we started the game very strong and went into halftime 4-0 up, we went back out with the same mindset and focus as the first half and continued our dominance with the game finishing 6-0, with Sam H scoring 3, Jack P scoring 2 and Harry scoring 1.

Our second game was against Mount George PS, the nerves were high both on the field and on the bench, Jack P put the nerves to rest as he put us 1-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes, Sam quickly followed up by scoring his first for the game. At halftime the key message was keep working hard. Into the second half Sam scored his second for the game putting us 3-0 up. Mt George scored to make the score 3-1 and the nerves kicked in again. But Charlotte would finish the game off with a lovely goal towards the end, confirming Mulbrings place in the top 4 small school soccer teams in the state and playing in the state championships in Penrith.

Across both games the team played with respect towards the referees and fantastic sportsmanship, something the staff are very proud of. Thank you to the parents for your unwavering support, it definitely helped us get over the line in both games. We are all very excited to make the state championships for the first time in 10 years and can’t wait to bring home the trophy to Mulbring.
