The WVIA is a non-profit organization that serves NE PA through it’s NPR radio and PBS TV stations. The WVIA facility required a comprehensive set of upgrades, including replacing the existing roof, introducing a new canopy at the public entrance, improving vehicle circulation with a rear driveway, resurfacing the parking lot, adding roughly thirty new parking spaces, and upgrading site lighting. Our team began by documenting the roof’s current condition and performing structural, plumbing, and electrical calculations to understand load requirements for the new roof, drainage, canopy, and lighting improvements.
As part of the design process, we evaluated canopy concepts that complemented the building and developed material options for roofing, flashing, canopy construction, and new pavement surfaces. Testing for asbestos and other hazardous materials was coordinated to ensure safe and compliant work.
