Dear Bluejay Family,

What a wonderful Catholic Schools Week we have had! Thank you for celebrating with us and for your generosity in supporting our baby shower for the Desormeaux Foundation. Your donations will make a meaningful difference for mothers and babies in need.

We also extend a heartfelt congratulations to our honorees recognized at Wednesday’s Mass:

  • 5th Grade Student of the Year - Amelia Leonards,
  • 8th Grade Student of the Year - Emiry Jeane,
  • Support Staff Member of the Year - Courtney Aymond,
  • Educator of the Year - Mary Attales,
  • Supporter of the Year - Phyllia Comeaux.

These students and faculty members exemplify the faith, service, and excellence that make St. Cecilia so special.

Believe it or not, we are already approaching the halfway point of the 3rd quarter! Progress Reports will be available soon, serving as a valuable checkpoint in your child’s academic journey. This is a great opportunity to celebrate areas of growth and identify where adjustments may be needed. If your child could benefit from additional support, now is the perfect time to seek guidance and reinforce good study habits to ensure a strong finish to the quarter.

Thank you for being part of our St. Cecilia family and for your continued support of our mission!

Grace & Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

A Special Message from Father Michael

Running Club

Students in Kindergarten through 4th grade are invited to join the Running Club, where they can exercise, build endurance, and have fun with friends. It meets on the playground after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00, starting the week of March 10 and ending the week of April 11 (weather permitting). Activities include warm-ups, stretching, and running/walking. Laps are recorded, and for every 30 laps (3 miles), students earn a small plastic shoe to hang on their book sacks.

Faculty FarewellS

It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to members of our St. Cecilia family, and today, we share that two valued faculty members will be moving on at the end of this school year. Ms. Alyse Etie has made the difficult decision to accept a position at another school that better aligns with her needs at this time. This choice was not made lightly, as she has truly cherished her time at St. Cecilia. While she is sad to leave, she is grateful for the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Mr. Michael Benoit will also be departing as he prepares for an exciting career change. He will be pursuing his law degree at LSU, a path he has long been interested in, while also preparing for the new adventure of fatherhood. Though he is excited for this next step, he will deeply miss the classroom and the students he has enjoyed teaching.

Though their time with us has been relatively brief, both Ms. Etie and Mr. Benoit have made a meaningful impact on our students, faculty, and school community. Please join us in expressing our gratitude for their dedication and in keeping them in your prayers as they embark on these new journeys.

St. Cecilia Fund

The St. Cecilia Fund is an annual fund and is open through the current fiscal year. If you have not had the opportunity to give for the 2024-2025 school year, it's not too late! Please consider an end of year gift to support our school.

REMINDER: Registration and Perpetual Maintenance fees are due in full no later than Friday, January 31, 2025. Please be sure to sign into your FACTS account and initiate payment if you are not enrolled in autopay for incidental billing to avoid late charges being added.

As a reminder, parish non-tithing fees will be billed in February. This $250 fee is billed to all families that have not met the minimum tithing amount ($250) to Sacred Heart or St. Joseph in Broussard for the calendar year 2024. Please make sure your donations are trackable (i.e. check, parish envelope, EFT, online). We can not track cash donations and if you are not a registered parishioner we literally do not have an account to apply your donations to which will likely lead to the $250 invoice being generated for your family. If you receive an invoice for the non-tithing fee in error, please contact Marsha Granger or Ann Dugas (emails below). You may be asked to provide proof of your donations if you are not a registered parishioner and/or giving in a way that we could not verify. If you are unsure of your 2024 tithing amount, please call Sacred Heart Church at 337.837.1864 or email mgranger@scsbluejays.org or adugas@scsbluejays.org to verify your giving history.

For a 25-26 schedule of tuition and fees, please visit scsbluejays.org and click the Admissions tab.

Dear Bluejay Family,

Basketball season has concluded with our 5th Grade Girls crowned as the Division I Basketball Champion! We are so proud of what and how the girls accomplished this feat. Thanks to the coaching staff of Matt Hebert, Stephanie Hebert, and Thomas Leonards for their direction and dedication to the girls this year. Our 5th Grade Boys finished as runner up in their tournament bracket. They showed great promise, and we look forward to seeing them succeed on the hardcourt in their future seasons as Bluejays.

Our soccer postseason tournament completed yesterday. Both the JV boys and girls had strong seasons this year. Soccer is certainly thriving at St. Cecilia thanks to the dedication of the coaches and support of the parents. Unfortunately the season did not end the way we wanted, we are beyond proud of our Bluejay soccer program's future.
