Beth Reodica Loving the Lord and Loving the Ordinary

It is a Sunday morning, before the waking hours when the sun rises. Long before the members of Biblical Community Church wake, Beth Reodica drives to the church sometimes as early as 3:00 am. In silence and solitude, she opens the church and prepares the house of the Lord. Reodica loves to arrive at BCC as early as possible to ensure things run smoothly. She lovingly shares, “That’s where you can find me greeting our Father in the morning. It is a privilege for me to prepare His house - the house of God.” She starts preparing the house of God by cleaning the bathrooms, tidying up the sanctuary, cleaning and organizing the kitchen, preparing the classrooms, and making the rooms ready for the people. “Pretty much, just kind of getting the church ready and keeping it presentable. You know how we must look presentable when we go to church? It’s the same thing, making the house of God presentable and welcoming to the people,” Reodica simply, but powerfully states.

Before worship service starts on Sunday mornings, Reodica works behind the scenes to keep everything in order and ready for the congregation.

Helping People with the HEart of God

Reodica’s heart of utmost devotion to the Lord and service towards others finds its origins in her personal testimony. She found purpose and reason for life following a season in the past where she had hit rock bottom, “I am a product of brokenness experienced,” she shares. When asked why she serves in ministry, Reodica responds, “I had so many experiences in my life, I was searching for something to fill the void in my heart. That void was filled by God Himself.” Though once lost, she was found by the Lord and became a Christian. To her, Biblical Community Church is her home and comfort, “I tasted the spiritual food here, and it was good. And I just wanted more.” It was as if she were an empty cup being cleaned and filled to the brim when she was there amongst the community.

"I want people like me to find a home. Like a house of God, an assembly of believers to experience..."

Helping people with the heart of God is a cycle of love passed down from person to person: people at BCC helped Reodica, Reodica helps more people, and the body of Christ grows as a result. Ultimately, her goal is this: “I want people like me to find a home. Like a house of God, an assembly of believers to experience. Mine happened because I was doing it on my own, I searched myself… There are people like me who went from one church to another to find a church where they can feel like they belong.” This is the reason for Reodica’s service, support, and devotion to the administrative ministry.

To be a Christ Follower

Reodica’s heart is aligned with God’s eternal kingdom purposes; she finds herself devoted to the five pillars at BCC: Discipleship, fellowship, missions, prayer, and evangelism. The vision and mission statement of Biblical Community Church is Reodica’s own: “To be Christ followers who glorify the triune God.” And thus, she always asks the Lord what He has planned next – how can she be found a good and faithful servant when she finally meets her Lord and Savior face to face.

Reodica’s work is more than admin tasks like sending out emails, keeping up with the bulletin, and completing office work at her desk. All her service contributes to Reodica’s goal of making every member and new visitor at BCC feel welcome at home with friends and, yes, even family. She seeks not to forget the forgotten.   After church service, she is often found assisting and loving on the elderly and sick. At times, her contagious laughter and kindness can be heard in the hallways. As of late, she has been having lunch with an elderly member, Alice, and driving her to and from church. One afternoon, Alice emotionally shared with Reodica, “Thank you for eating lunch with me. Most of the time, I eat by myself, and it gets lonely.”

Beth Reodica is a paramount example of loving the ordinary just as Jesus Christ did. Her service is from the overflow of her devotion to God and His work in her. She simply wants to pass on the joy of the Lord and help those who need love. At the end of the day, everything about and involved with her role as admin assistant points back to her Lord and Savior: “And so, it always points back to Jesus. Why am I doing this? And the simple answer is one word - Jesus.”
