Happy Educators Appreciation Week!

Message from Steven Tunnicliff, Ph.D., Superintendent at Genesee ISD

Dr. Tunnicliff delivers a powerful message inviting everyone to pause, reflect on your work, evaluate your impact, and celebrate your successes. He also shares his appreciation and warm wishes to educators across Genesee County in honor of Educator Appreciation Week.

A Shared Commitment to Student Success

Countywide Goal for Math and Reading

Across Genesee County, we have always taken pride in the strength of our individual districts. Today, we are building on that strength with a shared commitment that unites us all around a common purpose.

By 2030, together we will ensure Genesee County exceeds state assessment performance averages by steadily closing the gap in math and reading each year. This goal is ambitious, yet achievable because it builds on what we already do best, supporting one another and working collectively for the success of every learner.

Helping Students Take Next Steps

GO Stipend and Career Connection Center Support Student Success

Genesee County educators play an essential role in helping students plan for life after high school. To support that work, GISD offers two key resources, the Career Connection Center and the Genesee Opportunity (GO) Stipend, both designed to reduce challenges and help students take their next steps. Now in its 10th year, the GO Stipend has grown from a $450 award into a significant source of financial support for eligible graduates pursuing college, career training, or certification programs.

FREE Money for the Class of 2026!

Fuel Your Future with the GO Stipend

We are excited to announce that the Genesee Opportunity (GO) Stipend is $1,800 for the Class of 2026! Attention all Genesee County seniors! The GO Stipend is back and ready to support the Class of 2026, including 5th-year early college students on their journey beyond high school. This incredible opportunity provides real financial support for graduates to use toward college tuition, career training, certification programs, licensing fees, and exam costs. Please help spread the word and share the great news with all staff, students, and parents.

GCI Students Shine at State and National Levels

Students Earn Top Honors through CTE Student Organizations

Students from Genesee County's 21 local school districts demonstrate their talent, dedication, and growth through Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO). At Genesee Career Institute (GCI), these students represent their home schools with pride while extending their learning through leadership, competition, and real-world skill development.

Growing Leaders Together

Advancing Instruction Through Collective Leadership

For nearly four decades, the Greater Flint Educational Consortium (GFEC) has quietly but powerfully brought Genesee County educators together around a shared purpose: improving outcomes for all students. Since its founding in 1988, GFEC has served as a space where local districts, higher education partners, and community organizations come together to learn from one another, share ideas, and move our work forward collectively.
